Baffling starter?

I just changed my starter on my 77 (stock FI) Bug. I put it a rebuilt autostick one. After installing and connecting everything, it would not turn over. I removed it and did a quick bench trial. It seemed OK. Reinstalled it, same thing, not even a click. So I jumped the connections with a screwdriver and it started!... more »

I've seen many times where the starter for Autostick Bugs can be used instead of the one for manual tranny. I know the difference but want to know if there's any reason not to do the switch.

Hope you enjoyed your day, guys..... Every year I try to acknowledge the day, and say "thanks" to anyone that has, or does, wear the uniform. That said, don't think that the other 364.25 days per year it's forgotten, it's not. At least not here. (Happy day to my father, Viet Nam Vet.)

Hello there I have the Bug Me series on how to repair your VW Beetle on VHS. I've found all but one in .avi form on-line, and was curious if anyone had that one in .avi form?
