I am going to be painting my Sb shortly and have a question. Does the
fender beading go on before I paint it or after I paint it? The color is
orange for the paint and the beading is black ( the stuff that goes
between the fenders and body)

Painted fender beading is one item that makes guys who like "nice" cares
shake their heads....

Paint the car, THEN install the beading.

Yes. take it out. And I've read that, ideally, you should loosen the
fender bolts so that you get paint down into the crack. Not sure what
year you've got, but when I had my 72 painted, I did the same thing with
the taillight housing: I took the lights out and the gasket out from
between the housing and the body. then I loosened it a bit to keep it
off the body a little bit.

I agree, nothing reeks of a cheap paint job more than painted fender beading
and painted seals.

try putting some washers between the fender and body. this will allow
the paint to get between the parts. Also it will keep the fender from
scratching the body. (flopping around).

what about having each part of the body painted separate then assembling them
later? or is it recomended that you leave the body assembles (or partially for
the most part)?

Completely remove the fenders from the car, clean up the wheel wells,
paint the body, paint the fenders, and rejoin the two.

And if you want a really high-class paint job, take off the bumpers,
both hoods and drop the engine so you can paint in those places too.
Taking the windows and the interior out is a step for the truly
committed, but if you do you can produce a paint job that doesn't
require masking at all.
