Oil Filter adapter leak
|
| |
2002 Moutaineer 4.6L AWD. I've got a leak that is coming from the fitting where the oil filter screws on. It is definitely not the filter itself or the filter gasket. Did a little internet research. Seems the oil filter adapter that bolts to the block has a gasket that tends to leak. I'm pretty sure that is the problem as the leak is dripping off the lowest bolt. I... more »

No fuel at fuel rail
|
| |
I've got a '96 Ford Explorer V8 2WD. I parked it for lunch and now it will crank but will not start. There is no fuel pressure on the fuel rail / schrader valve. I've checked all of the fuses. I've replaced the fuel relay. Still no joy. Now suspect fuel pump. Any other suggestions? If it is the fuel pump, what is a reasonable repair cost... more »

Question about gear lubricant
|
| |
Hello All I'm about to change the gear oil on my 92 XLT with limited slip (I'm at 103,000 miles) The parts store gave me Castrol Limited Slip Gear Lubricant and the 4 oz of friction modifier Ford calls for. It's GL-5 SAE 80W-90. The Ford manual says use hypoid gear oil (the Haynes manual says GL-5) I think hypoid gear oil and GL-5 are the same thing, even though the... more »

99 Explorer Dash Lamp replacement Extra Connector?
|
| |
Finally got around to relamping the instrument panel in my 99 Explorer Sport. First a few word on the process. There was no need to remove any of the knobs as mentioned on line or in the factory manual. There was no need to unbolt the emergency brake pull. The metal reinforcement panel need only be loosened not removed.... more »

Parting out 1992 Ford Explorer
|
| |
I am parting out a 1992 Ford Explorer 4x4. I have many good parts. The interior is very clean. The body is in very good condition. Parts from this will fit the 91-94 model year explorers, and some parts will also fit the rangers from the same years. I live in Omaha, NE, so there will be some shipping involved if you... more »

Additonal brake question Jim W!
|
| |
Hello Jim and anyone else who might have answer. Fist off, sorry to post this as a new thread, but I wanted to make sure folks saw it. I went ahead and changed the shoes - so far the left ones (Boy, there's hardly any wear compared to the new shoes I'm putting on - just the slight gap where the one rivet is lose). I could have gone... more »

Adjust brake shoe to drum clearance et al
|
| |
Hello All Sorry to be posting through Google, but my ISP (Verizon) is about to end Usenet access because "there are more exciting alternatives." Yeah. Anyway, two questions for my 92 XLT (which I still have and is still alive, well and beautiful at 103,000!) For the first time (after the dealership adjusted my emergency brakes... more »

Before I head to the dealer......
|
| |
I have a 2007 Ford Explorer XLT 4WD. I noticed that my radiator overflow container was empty. I filled it up about an inch below the "Hot Level". I drove 70 miles in 100 degree weather, so I thought I would check it again when it was hot. The overflow container was empty again, even though the engine was hot (note: the TEMP gauge was right in the middle of the range).... more »
