I just read an article about what is being done on the Ohio Turnpike.
As you probably know, toll roads were originally sold as a way to pay
for the actual toll road. Now, because no one wants to raise taxes to
pay for what's needed, they are going to let the Ohio Turnpike
commission borrow $1.5 Billion for highway projects and pay it back
out of the tolls. The kicker is that they don't have to use the money
on the Ohio Turnpike!!! 90% of it must be spent within 75 miles of
the Ohio Turnpike. That's a 150 mile wide corridor!!! You can be
sure they will move money OFF planned projects in that corridor and
put that money elsewhere so they can use this stolen turnpike money on
non-turnpike work. And then there is that other 10% that's not
limited in where it can be spent, that's $150 million in slush funds
to buy votes.
