WTF is LLB?
Left Lane Blocker.
"I don't look at myself as a basketball coach;

And violate laws like "KEEP RIGHT EXCEPT TO PASS" and "SLOWER TRAFFIC
KEEP RIGHT"
Not to mention in some states being a LLB is a direct violation of law
and subject to a citation. Are you going to pay for those? Are you
going to pay for the increased insurance costs because someone's rates
go up because they've accumulated a bunch of moving violations by
following your plan? I'll bet not.
And, above all, a true Christian would be courteous. Being a LLB is not
courteous.
And speaking of courtesy...if you're going to try to invoke some
convoluted quasi-religious political action the least you could do would
be to have the respect to capitalize the word "Christian."

Saving lives is NOT against the law.
Never said it was. I said the means by which you propose to do it is.
By your logic blowing up every car in the country, so long as it was
unoccupied, would be just fine.

You are increasing the death rate if you do not go with the speed of the
flow of traffic at the time. If the flow of traffic is going over the speed
limit and you go at the speed limit, you will increase the accident and
death rate.
Impeding traffic by going slower in the left lane, is against the law in
California and probably other states.

It means not many people are passing you and you are not passing a lot of
people. This is the normal way people drive and is common knowledge.
The California Highway Patrol consistently gives tickets to people that are
going significantly faster or slower than the other drivers on a part of the
freeway.
You seem to be hung up on following arbitrary rules instead of trying to
drive safely.

Normally I don't reply to foolish posts, but I cannot resist.
Take a look at the graph linked here:
<http://www.safespeed.org.uk/international3.html>
You will see that the USA's motorway/interstate fatality rate is higher
than that of Germany's Autobahns. Many autobahns have no speed limit,
yet driver courtesy is extremely apparent, with the general rule of
thumb being the fastest driver has right of way in the right lane.
Motorways in the UK have a speed limit of 70mph. When I was there 12
months ago, most traffic tended to move at 80 - 85mph, and police only
seemed to be fining those traveling at 100mph or more. I did not see
one driver blocking the inside lane. All drivers who chose to do the
speed limit of 70 or less stuck to the outside lane. In my opinion,
drivers in the UK are the most courteous and relaxed of any country I’ve
visited. You'll notice that the UK has the lowest motorway fatality
rate of the countries listed in that graph.
So to summarise, you are encouraging discourteous behaviour, when the
country with amongst the most courteous drivers in the world has one of
the lowest death rates in the world, despite high speeds being commonplace.
You are encouraging a incredibly frustrating behaviour, when frustration
is one of the primary killers on the roads. You are campaigning for a
55mph speed limit on US Interstates, when 55mph is fast enough to kill
the occupants of a car in an accident, yet in a modern car on a modern
multi-lane motorway, 55mph feels incredibly slow which means drivers
minds will wander from the task at hand.
There is no logic in any of your arguments.
You also spelt "Christian" without a capital letter during the Easter
weekend. When someone runs up the back of you while you're blocking the
left lane at 55mph, you're going straight to hell mate.
Absolutely, I vote independent.

If your mind wanders while driving a car then you shouldn't be on the
roads. America went to 55 in 1974 and immediately saw highway
fatalities drop 9,000 a year. Slower speed limits save lives - that has
been proven.

Absolutely true. There are a lot of people in society that constantly
believe that thy can solve the problems of a complex society with some
simple rule.
When the complexity of society is pointed out to them and how there simple
rule will lead to disaster, they then still continue coming up with other
simple rules that also fail.
People are a lot smarter than rules. That is why we have judges who bring
an understanding of society to laws pushed by simple minded people that
think only with simple rules .

When 55MPH was replaced with a higher speed limit, we again had a major
drop in fatalities.

Proof correlation does not equal causation. You can't ignore simple
physics which is F=MA, force equals mass times acceleration. Increase the
acceleration, all things being equal, and you increase the force.
Yes, Autobahn's are safer than American highways. But that probably has
nothing to do with the speed limit (or lack of it), and alot to do with the
better driving ability of Europeans (the driving tests are harder), and the
increased safety in most European cars (in the US, it is mostly an
afterthought and our crash tests are a joke... alot of trucks and SUV's
don't even have to meet any crash standards). It's just a fact that a
single-vehicle collisions at 90 mph is going to have more damage than one at
60 mph.
And, if you go to Europe they take speeding much more seriously than in
the US. True, the Autobahn has a reputation for not having speed limits
(which is not entirely true), but everywhere else they crack down on
speeders. And this is true in the rest of Europe, too. Automated speed
cameras are especially popular, and the government runs better campaigns and
programs against speeding. At 4 dollars per gallon for fuel, you have to be
well heeled to be racing down that Autobahn at over 120 miles per hour,
because they are using about double the fuel vs. travelling at 60 mph.
F=MA does not even begin to describe the complex interaction of people
driving, people in accidents and the causes of accidents along with the
effects of the many things that go on in an accident to people and their
vehicle.
The facts are that there was a sharp drop in the vehicular death rate at the
same time the speed limits were increased.

I was aware of that. I am also aware of the large decline in fatalities
when the US NSL was increased, then revoked. You did not reply to my
argument at all, simply rambled on with your same simplistic idiotic
logic of "slower is safer".
Nobody can argue that when an accident occours at a lower speed the
chance of a fatality will be reduced. It also cannot be argued that
better driver training, better driver courtesy and a speed limit set by
independent road safety engineers and experts (as opposed to a
politically correct speed limit) would result in far less accidents.

The 55mph was raised slowly and state by state. So there was no major
drop in fatalities. It's not even conceivable, you dolt. OTOH, when
the 55mph was introduced in 1974 it WAS done all at once and
nationally. And the drop in fatalities was immediate. Case closed.

The 55 mph speed limit was repealed around the same time that airbags were
introduced and cars were also becomming structurally somewhat safer, as
well.
What you really need to look for is the accident rate. Does having a
higher speed limit contribute to more accidents, and what percentage of
those accidents are fatal? Plenty of studies have shown that lowering
speed limits leads to fewer fatalities.

I'm willing to bet you're citing the IIHS. They cherry pick data to
suit their conjecture that higher speed limits lead to more fatalities.
The vast majority of studies show that higher speed limits do not have
any detrimental effect on fatality or crash rates.
The fact is that fatality rates and crash rates continue to decline
despite the fact that the 85th percentile speed on most limited access
highways has been increasing over the last 20 years.

With reduced mileage in discretionary travel, and fuel availability etc and
so on, little wonder. But then taking those factors into account, I'd
reckon on an actual statistical increase per capita of the rate!
HAHA. Don't you ever do any research before you start spouting? Go to
this web page and you'll see that from 73 to 74, miles driven dropped
just 2% while highway fatalities dropped 16%. And in 75, fatalities
dropped a little more even though miles driven were now ABOVE the 73
level.!! YOU ARE A TOTAL IDIOT!!!!
There was also an added emphasis on getting DUIs off the road. But all
these things happened gradually as did the change to higher speed
limits. It's really impossible to figure out which factors caused
what. That's why the best evidence that speed kills is what happened
in 74 when the 55 mph limit was introduced nationwide and all at once.
And fatalities plumetted.

One would have to require periodic retests(actual road tests) to insure
that drivers did not acquire undesirable driving habits,a single intensive
training likely would not hold for several decades(maybe not even one
decade). Fat chance of that.
Training gives basic skills, and experience completes a driver's skillset.

No, they don't; Like other skills, how to drive well is something that
