he's getting one unique page view per day per user(is this a unique user
count?)-prolly by accident, or it's me mining his site for boffo laffs.
His site is visited by 0.00013% of internet users; down 80% over the
last 3 mos. Page hits are down 74%. Can you say tanking?

No, they don't track "unique users" as a raw statistic, at least for
sites outside the top 100k, nor do they track page views themselves.
However... hawhaw... a "page views per user" count of *exactly* one
means that every person who's visited the site has gone there and turned
right back around and left. Nobody is browsing the site. (At least,
nobody who's using Alexa Toolbar).

Can't hurt to try. Only problem is its prolific cross-posting. I
suggest simply posting a one-liner along the lines of "another pathetic
troll looks for the love and attention it didn't receive as a small
child" or something like that as a first reply to every thread it
starts, and then leave it at that. Then those in the other NG's might
get the hint and get on board with the program.

No, none of this will work at all as already been demonstrated. It was
a good idea but we have just way too many people who can't control
themselves. It's not accidental replies to these threads, either, its
intentional replies by people like East Coast Hive Mind because he's
too stupid to understand that one response jeopardizes the whole thing.

and replies:

and for a subject kill:
Subject: beaner
note: I've noted that with Agent, that a subject kill will kill any
message with the search term in it. i.e in the above all messages with
the word, "beaner," in the subject were killed. Don't kow if this
might be a problem for some as legitimate posts with the word are
theoretically possible.

True. One thing I used to like about Gravity was that you could set up
a filter to automatically kill any message crossposted to more than a
set number of groups. Haven't found a way to do that with Agent
yet....

I too fail to see how he can be called a troll, which I've always
thought to mean someone who posts inflammatory material just to get a
rise out of people. Not to be confused with a loon, who posts crazy
material because he thinks he's right, or an agitprop dispenser, who
grinds his axe in whatever forum happens to be at hand (and whose
material might be crazy, inflammatory, or wrong) but which he thinks
is right. Lord knows we get a few people with one or more of those
attributes on Usenet.
This guy, in my limited experience, is a prolific poster with
singleminded devotion to a subject I don't much care about, but which
seems to be at least vaguely on charter for the groups that I see it
on (usually rec.autos.driving). In short, <shrug> <blockignore>
<script=liveandletlive>.

I agree, but I think that making an effort to not reply to his posts is
worthwhile, because he does flood several NG's with daily updates on
minor tweaks to his website that nobody cares about. Maybe he'd then
get the message that such is annoying, and be better off for it.
Certainly he might even get some measure of acceptance and respect if he
weren't so f'ing obnoxious and repetitive.
Might as well extend the policy to the real trolls of the NG as well
while we're at it. Lord knows RAD is borderline unreadable lately, and
we've got some real persistent trolls who have been around for years
despite having several regulars take turns using them as punching bags.
And that is my last word on the subject... I agree with whoever posted
that even posting to this thread might be ebough to make someone posting
just for the attention hang on a little longer.
