The Fisher 510-ST is a very high quality, desirable vintage Stereo
Pre-amp with mono tube amplifier from about 1960, that uses a
push-pull pair of EL84 / 6BQ5 tubes to produce about 14 watts.
This example is in outstanding condition. This came from a Fisher
console with a Fisher PR-66 Phono Pre-Amp, Fisher 30-A Amp and a
Garrard RC-88/4 Turntable with a Shure M7D Stereo Cart. Except for
the console itself, the components were in fantastic condition. I
pretty much just wiped them clean of dust. See my other auction
(140841503241) for the PR-66 Phono Preamp and (140842374991) for the
30-A amplifier that came with the original console.
The Fisher 510-ST is basically a 30-A amp with a stereo preamp built
in for phono, tuner and aux inputs. The main difference with the
510-ST and it's 30-A amplifier and a regular 30-A is the output
transfomer. This version contains a secondary tap for 2.5 ohms only.
Some people have replaced this with an output transformer from another
30-A amp that has 4/8/16 ohm taps, and others have used it as-is and
drive a 4 or 8 ohm loads with no issue. It sounds great just as it
is!
