an obsession with truth (or the facts, at least)
|
| |
As friendly professor Peter Schickele once said... "Truth is truth. You can't have opinions about truth."
I'm accused of having obsessions no one else cares about. (I'm willing to confess to an excessive fondness for gerbils.) But I do care about the truth, and make no apologies for it.

My remark that "no one in this group knows what they're talking about" (and its implications) was uncalled-for. I sincerely apologize.

Oh. My. God.
It's a weird jumble of bits of real science glued together in strange ways, something like "My dog barked, and the acoustic interaction with the engine computer in my car two blocks away caused a misfire on cylinder 3."

Has anyone ever heard of this thing? I'm pretty sure its primary function is to separate buyers from their money, but opinions are welcome: [link] "The Blackbody is unlike any other filter or conditioner. This type of radiated noise is not confined to wires. The Blackbody works by absorbing these reflections, effectively solving the problem. Being the only conditioner of its kind, it offers a level of performance previously unattainable."... more »

Currently, we don't have any ribbon mics...and I've often thought it would be a nice addition, if I can find one we can afford. Is there anything out there between say $500---$1,000 that might be worth considering? Potential uses would likely include trumpet, trombone, etc. (I had a trombone player in our studio a while back & he let me use his personal ribbon mic....and while it sounded fabulous, it also costs around $3,500....not likely something we can afford at this time!)... more »
