Further to my post about the failed PMD670, I have another recording of the
minister's lav mic recorded from the church sound board. However, there is

I used my new-to-me Marantz PMD670 recorder to record a pair of lavs at my
daughter's wedding. Its firmware was recently flashed by Denon. At their
recommendation, I purchased a Lexar 16GB CF card.
Unfortunately, the audio skips periodically. In particular, it jumps over the

Method for level balancing LP tracks from various albums

I'm putting together a compilation of tracks by a particular artist
for a friend from various sources, mostly LP, a couple from tape.
There's enough variation in the overall volume for me to notice it and

I'm wondering if anyone knows what the typical dominant source of
noise is in an externally polarized condenser mic utilizing a Jfet for
impedance conversion. Is it the Johnson or 1/f noise of the
polarizing resistor, voltage noise of the Jfet, or some other source?
