What spec is your HP?
Note: Studio 64 is meant for 64 bit CPUs. There's a big clue in the title.

To quote the 64 Studio web site (download page): "The 64 Studio ...
versions are available in 64-bit (labelled amd64) and 32-bit (labelled
i386) builds, to run on almost all PCs."
Greetings,
George
So what's wrong with i386-64 ?
geoff
I can't comment about the main distro, as I never got the 64 Studio
V2.0 or V2.1 installation to complete but I can attest that the V2.1
installer's partitioner whacked Windows XP beyond recovery. (Twice.)
Of all the 20 distros I went through so far, 64 Studio is pretty much
the only one which did, besides Indamixx, whose installer/partitioner
is also written by the 64 Studio team. (The latter partitioner whacked
XP after a successfully completed installation, so the damage doesn't
seem to be caused by an installation failure.)
I guess if you have a computer without any OS (or with one you don't
care to keep) then losing the old OS will not be an issue. I always
make sure to have a working Windows XP with correctly set MIDI and
audio before every Linux install, in case the distro is smart enough
to pick up the MIDI and audio settings from XP. (Some smoother distros
like ArtistX or OpenArtist do import the user accounts fine, if asked)
Greetings,
George
