It's a fantastic upgrade, well worth it if you currently own v3 or 4.
There is *much* more editing power, and it seems to me the IR defaults
(Altiverb-speak for "presets") even sound better right out of the box.
Being able to so much more extensively edit the settings is a *huge*
inmprovement. The only downside is, as it always was for Pro Tools TDM
users, that it's HTDM only. Three instances of it will use almost all
my dual 1GHz G4's processing power, making it pretty dicey to add an
Auto-Tune or two for example, which I only have in RTAS. There are some
other good convolution reverbs that can run under TDM, which would be a
very welcome thing.

Thanks Ted, after several years out of the project studio game (DA-88's
and Mackie 8-bus), my wife and I very recently (days ago) jumped back
in with a Motu 896HD, G4 Powerbook (1.65Ghz) Digital Performer 4.5 and
a Mackie Control Universal. Still trying to figure out how to make it
do most things, but one thing for sure is that a better reverb is
needed and I've heard great things about Altiverb.

Thanks again for your reply.

A buddy of mine who works with a TDM system, just built himself a PC, mostly
for Gigastudio Orchestra..
They have a great convolution reverb, called Giga Pulse.
Here's a link. http://www.tascamgiga.com/gigapulse.html
If you protools TDM users don't want to spend 15 to 25 grand for the HTDM
system, check it out.
He's gonna use Giga Pulse when he's mixing on PT.
I'll let you know how it works

Remarkable...well worth the money. At least IMHO.
