Oh no!!!!!
Anybody see the "Hobbit" movie? The title was bloviated, can't remember it exactly. I watched about 20 minutes. Why, oh why, does Ian McKellen debase himself with this garbage? I have to admit, it's been ages since I read the book. I was probably around 12. My memory is of a more coherent story than the disjointed flummery of the... more »

Who said that?
"duh .... Existence, exists!" All you RAO vets will know that one. Even if you don't eat bugs. Curiously, they made a movie out of "Atlas Shrugged". The reviews weren't all bad, so I took a peek. What a piece of %*#! Stilted dialog, wooden "acting", unnecessary and distracting closeups. The dialog sounded like it came from the clumsiest... more »

It's not so bad here after all
Remember when the fatcats bought that Supreme Court verdict saying that spending money on politicians is a kind of speech? Well, if you lived in France this week, you'd be yearning for the old debate about yelling "FIRE!" in a crowded theater. SORGUES, France A T-shirt worn by a 3-year-old nursery-schooler... more »

Is this the New Wave for the Papists?
El nuevo papa is an octogenarian from the Nazis' hideaway land in S. America. What will this mean for the brown tide that threatens to overwhelm SoCal?

Holy Rosie the Rifleman, Batman!
I witnessed the most amazing event this a.m. I saw a huge SUV (a Suburban) being parallel-parked by a woman! She handled the oversized car as well as any man. I was astonished. This was something I'd never seen before. In my mind, parallel parking has always been the province of males. Clearly, if a woman can learn to parallel-park, then women can easily handle... more »

Pink Floyd Immersion set
If there are still people wary of 5.1 surround sound for music then a listen to the 5.1 remix of Dark Side of the Moon should cure that. As all Pink Floyd concerts were done in quad sound 5.1 is a very good alternative although the immersion set include a quad mix as well and a remastered 2 channel mix to boot. For this set they went back to the original master tapes so whatever version you prefer it will be better than any version previously available.... more »

Thoughts on Lance
If anything I thought he handled the Oprah interview superbly. He spoke with clarity, humility, class and grace. The emotional pain he felt was almost palpable as he grimaced through Oprah's yes/no opening gambit. Regardless of the circumstances, he is an athlete like no other. I mean this guy came 3rd... more »
