The last time I saw these was in 1983.  They were selling for
approximately $2500 at the time.  Has anyone seen these since?

I think the Magnat Plasma tweeter has never beensold in the US market . I
remember in 1985, I called Magnat regarding buying a pair of these, but they
say they can not sell these in US because it runs pretty hot and can easily
catch fire or cause injury. But if there is anyone who owns a pair of these, I
really like to hear their opinion.

Sounds like they have characteristics of the perfect audio component:  dangerous
and unobtainable  :-)
BTW, does anyone have an address/phone number for Magnat?

I heard them at CES many years ago, they sound like crap. Clean but
whispy, with a very disjointed, incoherent response. They put out some
interesting looking smoke though.

Damn! I remember these! I burned the HELL out of my fingers
at CES many years ago by accident on one of these things.
But they sounded good and looked COOL in a dark room. I think they
also generated a lot of ozone if memory serves me correctly.

It was Spherical in shape, if that's the one you're talking about.
What is the difference between the two ?

Are you sure that it was the Plasma tweeter? or was it  the sphere tweeter of
Dr. Siegfried Klein developped for Magnat?

One is the plasma tweeter (very hot, it can burn), the other is a
electromagnetic pulsing pshere.

It definitely was a plasma tweeter, but it was a metal ball with many
holes.

They where not imported to the U.S.A. Because They burn oxygen  one of
the by products was ozone, it has a peculiar odor. At the time the gov.
thought the level was to high. I would think at this time it would be
OK.
Before, the gov. would not allow negative Ion generators to be sold,
they
had the same problem.
They will not play without the metal ball on top.
