Greetings! I posted in alt.audio.equipment and someone suggested I try here.

I am looking to replace my old Sony MDR-V100 headphones. Here are the few points that I am looking for.

Supra-aural
cable length of 10 feet
under $200
hopefully similar sound profile to the MDR-V100s. I am not a fan of a lot of bass.

Any suggestions?

Sennheiser
AKG
Grado (US)
Koss

In that order. Pay the freight and try to get stuff made outside of China if you cn afford it.

Sony MDR7506 - $100

Audio Technica ATHM50 - $160

AKG K240 MK II - $200

Take your pick, but try to listen to each first. While I'm sure that all
of the above are probably acceptable sonically, headphones are a very
personal purchase. Buy the ones that fit your head the best and are the
most comfortable over a long listening session.

I am looking at AKG. But I am looking at the K 142 HD and the K 172 HD since I prefer supra-aural over circum-aural (like the K 240).

Thanks for the suggestions!
