The relief is a fragment from a wall from Room B, the Throne Room of the
North-West Palace of Ashurnasirpal II at Nimrud.
Other reliefs from Room B are in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, the British
Museum, London, the Iraq Museum, Baghdad, The Princeton University Art
Museum, New Jersey, the Prince of Wales Museum of Western India, Bombay, and
the Staaliche Kunstsammlungen, Dresden.
Provenance: Acquired by a member of the Ludlow family in the latter part of
the 19th century. Passed by marriage to another English family in 1907.
