Free Art?

I was toying with the idea of giving away twenty pictures
that I have done this year for free. They are just small
exploratory studies that I have done to try ideas.
But now I have put them into a web page, I just can't bring
myself to do it.
I was wondering what people thought about giving art
away for nothing. I'd rather do that than auction them off
on e-Bay for just a couple of dollars to some dealer.
I'd much rather they went to a more deserving and
appreciative owner. Please let me know what you think.
