I have the pilot and Henry never said anything about people dying if
they left Storybrooke, Maine:

"Once Upon a Time....." Pilot (S1XE1):

[Emma is driving Henry home. They have just entered the town of
Storybrooke, Maine. Emma then asks for a specific street address]

Emma: Alright kid how about an address?

Henry: 24 Not Telling You Street.

[Emma slams on the breaks bringing the old yellow Volkswagen Beetle to
a halt in the middle of an intersection. She gets out and slams the
door. As she does so a overhead telephone line sparks brightly. Too
mad to really notice she fumes. Henry gets out of the car and joins
her on the driver's side]

Emma [frustrated and angry]: Look, it's been a long night and it's
almost....

[She glances up at the old library's clock tower
]
Emma [bewildered]: ....8:15??

Henry: That clock hasn't moved for awhile. Time is frozen here.

Emma: Excuse me?

Henry: The Evil Queen did it with her curse. She sent everyone from
the enchanted Forest here.

Emma: The Evil Queen sent a bunch of fairy tale characters here?

Henry: Yeah, Now they're trapped.

Emma: Frozen in time stuck in Storybrooke, Maine? That's what you're
going with?

Henry [frustrated] It's true!

Emma: Then why don't they just leave?

Henry: They can't If they try bad things happen.

[Hopper, aka Jiminy Cricket runs up with his dog calling over to
Henry]

So no, Henry didn't say anyone would die; only bad things would
happen. Perhaps dying could be one of the bad things, but not
necessarily and so far IIRC with the exception of the Huntsman Regina
murdered no one has died, and he wasn't trying to leave Storybrooke.
