Vince Vaughn And Tony Danza Team For Comedy Project At ABC
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

ABC is finalizing a development deal for a comedy project starring and
executive produced by Tony Danza and executive produced by Vince
Vaughn. The project, eyed for the next development cycle, is based on
an idea by Danza and his manager Dan Farah. Search is underway for a
writer to pen the script. Vaughn is executive producing with his
producing partner at Wild West Picture Show Prods. Peter Billingsley.
This would mark Danza’s return to ABC where he starred in the hit
comedy Who’s The Boss? He also recurred on The Practice.

He was highly regarded by his fellow teachers when he did the A&E
stint. Too bad the ratings were a bomb. He stayed on the job after
the show was cancelled and took his job very seriously. He maintains
ties and supports the school.

Premise, jokingly referred to as "The Guys," revolves around three old
friends whose lives have taken them down very different roads, leading
them to begin new chapters as they enter their golden years. Trio
decide to move into a bachelor pad together near where their children
and grandchildren live. Producers said the aim is to deliver a "funny
and honest comedy about getting older, generational differences, and
the message that it's never too late to start a new chapter in life."

"We want this to be a very funny, honest and relatable show that feels
like the classic sitcoms we grew up with, and are excited to continue
building the ideal team to make it happen," said Farah. "Vaughn and
Billingsley are ideal partners for any comedy project, and working
with Tony in his return to half-hour comedy is a dream come true."

This sounds more like a TV Land original sitcom than something for ABC.

Tony Danza is in his "golden years"?!? He's less than two years older
than I am, for God's sake.

He's not necessarily playing a character his own age. In "The Golden
Girls", Estelle Getty and Bea Arthur played mother and daughter, even
though Getty was a year or two younger than Arthur.

BTW, the actresses on that show were all in their 50's and early 60's
when the show started. I don't know how old the characters were
supposed to have been.

You invested it all in gold, no money back guarantee just like it says on
the commercials.

you make that heavy lifting noise just getting out of the recliner.

The Bond movie, GOLDEN EYE?

But that new gold tooth is more fitting for the term 'golden years'.

Just be careful if they offer you a chance to come home with them and take a
golden shower.

Somehow, I doubt this will go as well for ABC as Tim Allen's "Last Man
Standing" did... :/

As soon as they make a move to take off their Depends, I'm outta there.
That's pretty much why I want that stuff in my knees back.

Sounds an awful lot like "Men of a Certain Age," and we all know how
well THAT one did.

Plus I can't stand Vince Vaughn.

Fully agree. One of the best-written and casted shows in a decade.

My new nickname for you is going to be 'Bun Head'.

"Me too!" What they said.

It also sounds a bit like the earlier _Manchild_ from the BBC, which
wasn't bad either.

I assume Danza's show is a sitcom, not a drama like MoaCA.

I thought the musical numbers in MOFaCA were every bit and sometimes better than
those of Glee. I especially liked the one about the 'vette

Probably, but so was _Manchild_, yet the similarity in theme was
unmistakable. I think the more salient difference is that some of us
are talking about commercial success while others are deliberately
talking about quality.
