What a train wreck of a season for NBC.

They've had nearly a decade of practice, and yep, they finally
perfected their blundering programming strategy. It's all seamless
rough sailing from here on.

Still only 0.1 ratings point out of second place.

And you know, I'd be okay with this if they'd just rename it
"Goatfucker With a Bad Hairpiece".

The TV market is just a strange beast these days, but NBC has just been
pitiful with respect to the shows it has selected. Even Smash, which was
somewhat of a success for them last year, has fallen by the wayside because
they brought in a showrunner that tried to turn it into an ordinary show
with the usual soap and plotting and not the one about producing a Broadway
hit. Plus it was delayed for half a year. It won't surprise me to see
Revolution bite the dust upon its return. It's been gone for so long anyway
and many of us were watching it primarily for snarking given the enormous
holes they wrote into the show.

Touch was delayed and retooled on Fox and it returned with literally
only half of its viewers, much to my disappointment.

Good to see that they are still tagging it with 'season' finale.

Sadly, this is NBC having a *really* good year.

Still only 0.2 out of last place and pushing hard to get there again by the
end of the season.

You misspelled:

"I have confidence in their ability to get *theirs*."

That's cool that ABC is only 0.3 out of second place. People who treat
this as a sporting event ignore how bunched together it really is.

And finally, because it told a story last year and finished that
story. They decided to make a Marilyn Monroe musical and they did.
There really was nowhere left to go. The 8 month hiatus on top of a
show that didn't end its previous season with any open questions, was
just the final nail in its coffin.

Bombshell never made it to Broadway though. Don't get me wrong, they could
have picked up a year down the road with Bombshell on Broadway and ignored
it with Hit List being the new show to be developed and nurtured. That would
have worked for me as well. That was my understanding of the original pitch
for Smash by the creator, a new show each season. Now we have Bombshell
still not on Broadway and with many issues to address before it ever does
so. Maybe that stuff happens. I don't know. I would have felt better about
it if the creator of Smash, who actually has Broadway experience, had not
been cashiered in favor of a CW showrunner. The new showrunner has amplified
the stuff for which the original was criticized. I don't mind having more
than one show. It adds some variety. This last episode was better although
it matters little as the show is unofficially cancelled. For the time being,
people will get to see all the episodes. I wouldn't be surprised if NBC
reneged on that though.
