--- Right now, Monday 9 p.m. would probably be Studio
60's best shot. There's no way that show will work on
Thursday opposite CSI and Grey's Anatomy. A Thursday
10 p.m. slot would be better for it, but then what would
NBC do with ER? Move it to Monday at 9 maybe? That
might also actually work better for The Black Donnellys
when it takes over from ER in January. And that's a move
that would also have to bump Heroes to some other spot.
Without making too many unnecessary changes, a new
place for it could be Thursday at 8, followed by Earl and
Office back in the 9 p.m. spot and away from the
sitcom-crowded 8 p.m. hour. So it could look like this:
MON: Deal or No Deal; Studio 60; Medium
Or: Deal or No Deal; ER / The Black Donnellys; Medium
THU: Heroes; My Name Is Earl; The Office; ER / The
Black Donnellys
Or: Heroes; My Name Is Earl; The Office; Studio 60
No matter which way NBC deals it, it'll still have no grip
on Thursday and Studio 60 will probably get to see only
a full season at best.
Looks like you called it at least on the night.
According to USA Today (reference URL at end of post), NBC will move
"Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" likely to a Monday slot. An official
announcement of the revised schedule is expected this week.

Assuming that the move to Monday occurs, I'd like to see that night's
installment of "Deal or No Deal" shifted to Wednesday at 8:00, pushing
"The Biggest Loser" to 9:00. Then "20 Good Years" and "30 Rock" could
air on Thursday at 8:00 and 8:30, followed by "My Name Is Earl" and
"The Office" at 9:00 and 9:30.
Oh, god. If they're moving Studio 60 to Monday at 9pm, then Heroes is
getting sacrificed. They should move it to Tuesday at 9pm or
Wednesday at 8pm.

LORELAI: In the movie, only boy hobbits travel to Mount
Doom, but that's only because the girls went to do something
even more dangerous.
GIRL: What?
LORELAI: Have you ever heard of a Brazilian Bikini Wax?
What reason does he have?
I'll vote for Wednesday, any time slot.
Cause it's a crappy, crappy timeslot for a new show to get sampled?
It will have to compete with
CSI: A huge hit with life still in it, big male and adult appeal
Grey's Anatomy: another big hit, big female appeal, big youth appeal
OC: Down but not out, still holds big youth appeal, major rejiggering
of cast and setting could revitalize ratings (or kill it, but season
finale probably entice a lot of eyes to the premiere)
Supernatural: not a big threat, but another youth offering

"Read less. More TV." - Dr. Greg House, "House"
http://homepage.mac.com/ijball/TV-Blog/
No. NOT Tuesday at 9. Why does every show have to be on then? It's
horrible programming for me, what with HOUSE and VM on at that time.
WQ suggested Monday at 10, which is a great idea. Actually, 10 is
better than 9 in general, as there's no competition from Fox or CW.
What would really work for me is if Fox would move both HOUSE and THE
OC to Wednesday. Everyone doesn't watch that show on ABC.

There is really *nothing* airing on Wednesdays at 8pm.
That seems such an obvious new timeslot for a show like "Studio 60" that
I'm surprised NBC hasn't already announced the change!
--- I'm on the phone to Zucker and Reilly right this minute, I'll get
back to you.
If you're me, there's nothing on all night on Wednesday, hence my
desire to have Fox move HOUSE and THE OC there. And then if NBC wanted
to put STUDIO 60 in at 10, well, that would just rock.
>There is really *nothing* airing on Wednesdays at 8pm.
Bones, Ian.
>That seems such an obvious new timeslot for a show like "Studio 60" that
>I'm surprised NBC hasn't already announced the change!
8pm Wednesdays is where I would have put it in the first place. "Ed"'s
timeslot. And there's *no* real comedy on in that timeslot, so even
if it's a Sports Night-esque dramedy, it would, IMO, do well there, as
Sports Night quite probably would have had it aired on NBC rather than
ABC.
According to various web sites I've read, NBC is contractually
obligated to air Studio 60 at 9 or 10 PM. So the producers would
have to waive this clause, which they might conceivably do for a
Thur 8 PM time slot (but any other day at 8 PM is very unlikely).
Since ABC and CBS are putting new dramas Thur at 10 PM,
NBC will almost certainly start the season with ER there,
in order to prevent those shows from gaining any traction.
Similarly, since ABC and Fox are airing new comedies in
the Thur 8 PM hour, NBC also seems likely to stick with
the plan of Earl and the Office at that time, especially
given the slight weakening exhibited by Survivor.
So the only way to put Studio 60 on Thursday is to
delay it until midseason--basically do with S60 what
they were planning to do with the Black Donnelys, and
use it to replace ER at 10 PM. If Studio 60 does well
enough, when ER returns in the winter it can move to
Sun at 10 PM (Without a Trace can run, but it can't hide >:)
The problem with Mon 9 PM is: what to do with Heroes?
It would make sense to move it to 8 PM, but Deal or No
Deal posts its best numbers that night. Wed 8 PM is a
problem because CBS has its sci-fi show Jericho there.
So the only place it could go is Tue 8 PM, which would
mean moving Fri Night Lights to Wed 8 PM (a family
show that, btw, can't air on Mon. or Fri. at 8 PM because
its target audience will be watching pro football or playing
high school football). That's a lot of changes to the lineup.
I think Mon 10 PM makes more sense-- Medium can either
be benched or moved to Friday 10 PM, letting NBC save
LO:Criminal Intent for its old Sun 9 PM slot after football.
Also, the producers really want the show to air at 10 PM.
My guess is that the two most probable outcomes are
Mon 10 PM if it debuts in the fall, or Thur 10 PM, as a
mid-season replacement for ER.

Granted. (FOX's sched came out last, so I've been kind of forgetting to
think about them...)
Anyway, "Studio 60" would still be good counter-programming to "Bones" -
I wouldn't be watching it over "Bones", but I'm sure there's plenty who
would...
I would watch STUDIO 60 instead of BONES, which I find interesting only
intermittenly.
After reading that S60 needs to air at 9 or 10, I realized that another
time slot that works for me is Thursday at 10. Neither of the other
nets' offerings excites me much so far (well, maybe the ABC show), and
I have never found ER "must see."

I would definitely start watching Bones "live," recording Studio 60 on
my Media Center. Much opportunities for time-shifting in the timeslot
considering that there won't be anything else worthwhile in the
timeslot besides Bones in the fall.
