Woohoo! 'Simpsons' fans rejoice! Universal Studios is building
Springfield
by Sandra Gonzalez

OMG! OMG! OMG!

This could be the greatest news for Simpsons obsessives since those
7-Elevens were converted into Kwik-E-Marts to celebrate the release of
the Simpsons movie.

Springfield, home of the three-eyed fish and hometown of Jebediah
Springfield, is becoming a reality at Universal Studios Orlando
amusement park.

While rumors have been floating for a while, Universal Studios
officially announced today that they are expanding the area around the
Simpsons Ride in Orlando to include an entire area that mimics the
streets of Springfield. And yes there will be Duff Beer, a release
said.

Some of the attractions will include a Krusty Burger, a Lard Lad
donuts, and, of course, Moes Tavern. There will also be a new Kang &
Kodos-themed attraction. (Personal hope: the gift shop only sells
Bort license plates.)

Im thrilled. Also, can I just say its about time? I mean, Harry
Potter fans have an entire Wizarding World of fun, and while Im
totally happy for them, it brings me great joy to say Simpsons fans
will get to enjoy the Krustyest place on earth.

Yeah, that turned out to be a whole bunch of nothing. This will
likely be no different.

The 1990's called...

A decade ago this would have been a good idea.

I would like to talk to the 1990s... Did it leave a call back number?

I still think it would be fun, if only for nostalgia's sake.

Now when are they going to do an "I Dream of Jeannie" Land with smokin'
hot Barbara Eden look-a-likes willing to do anything for their Masters...?

They did that already. Westworld and then Futureworld. Would have been
fine, if oly the robots hadn't gone amuck.

I notice MIchael Chrichton wrote and directed Westworld. Interesting,
since he resurrects the idea of theme parks, and specifically ones that go
bonkers, with the Jurrasic Park films.

You really need to try having sex sometime.

I've been watching a lot of old Jeannie episodes lately. The elevator in
the building where I work has been pitching MeTV all month on its little
video monitor and I realized I hadn't watched those old shows since I
was about ten years old, so with all the regular shows ending for the
summer, I hunted down MeTV on the dial and have been watching Jeannie
every night.

The level of comedy is pretty lame in comparison to modern fare, to be
sure, but my god, Barbara Eden was quite a biscuit. And watching them
with an adult eye, it's bizarre how Larry Hagman tenses up every time
Jeannie even touches him. He gets all squirmy and pushes her away even
when no one's around to see them. If it hadn't been a 60s TV show, I'd
get the impression they were trying to signal the character was gay.

I mean, really... Barbara Eden in a skimpy costume with her boobs nearly
falling out throws herself at you and it skeeves you out? Gay for sure.

Sure, why not. It'd make it at least slightly more interesting.
