Remember when Jane Fonda got caught doing the racist Tomahawk Chop?

Yep. This silly old Indian claimed he remembered when the white settlers first came to Arizona, and used Squaw as an insult ... uh, this guy was like 80. He might barely remember WW1. He doesn't remember 3 or 4 centuries ago! And the whole 'squaw as an insult' bit seems to be thoroughly debunked.

And they never give a damn how much it actually costs everyone who lives on these streets every time they do one of those politically-correct renamings.
I thought it was hilarious in Austin, when they caved under the pressure to name a street after Martin Luther King (because any city that doesn't have one is per se racist, dontcha know), they renamed one Martin Luther King Way, which everyone ended up shortening to MLK Way, which then further morphed into Milky Way in everyday parlance, and now the entire politically-correct purpose for renaming the street has been nullified.

Yeah, we had a lot of pressure here to have an Honorable Reverend Martin Luther King Junior Memorial Drive or something, and of course it had to be a major street or it was an insult, and the people that would have had to live and work on it were like "what the Hell, and how are we even going to get that onto our business cards!?!?"
Then we got stuck with a 'menu system' for the MLK holiday, where they added an extra holiday and government employees had to choose 7 out of 8 (or whatever) and nobody, count 'em, NOBODY took MLK day (even if YOU wanted it, nobody else you knew would have it off) so the next year they FORCED you to take MLK day and 6 other choices.

Yeah, well, it's still better than Maynard Jackson's mother-in-law!

First of all, it's rather ironic to charge someone else with racism, and
then promptly assert something sexist, such as that some honor should only
be reserved to men.
Adding to that, that position is ridiculous. The little bits of colored
confetti on modern military uniforms have the same function, with each
being symbolic of some award for valor or similar. But nobody kicks up a
fuss about "stolen valor" when an actor wears a uniform with that stuff for
some war movie or alien invasion flick or suchlike. We recognize that
context matters -- and wearing a costume on stage or for the camera, in
particular, is a very different context from wearing something at the
tribal council or on the military base or whatever.
