I have to agree with you on this one. Riley not only escaped but he
attacked a corrections officer discharged a weapon, is responsible for
another convict attacking another corrections officer and shooting
that officer and getting that other inmate shot.
Then he breaks in and attacks a person who as we found out later lied
on the witness stand in his original murder trial. He didn't kill him
but he admitted to hurting him enough to have him treated with some
first aid.
Then he holds Megan at gunpoint in her car. I am sure she didn't press
charges but still.
Then the wrongly convicted Riley holds who he-and Megan in her
arrogant way-thought was the real killer hostage with the gun to the
guy's head, who later turned out ironically totally innocent himself.
Yes he should go to prison again. As much as I feel for him being
wrongly convicted the first time. He should get some time off for the
four years plus of time he unjustly served but he has to serve another
sentence.
If he was like Dr. Richard Kimble in "The Fugitive" where he didn't
hurt anybody in his escape-and indeed helped at least one CO out of
the wreckage of the prison bus-and while being on the
run/investigating his wife's murder-except at the end that is who did
turn out to be the killer of his wife-I could forgive the guy and say
let him go even if escape is against the law. He shouldn't have been
in prison in the first place. He also saved a kid's life to boot. And
he almost got shot in the back by Marshal Gerard (thank God for bullet
proof electronic doors in the court house {IIRC}) so he deserves to be
let go right then and there. Not Riley.
BTW, When Marshal Gerard shot at Dr. Kimble he had by then known that
there was questions about the Dr. Kimble's conviction and knew that
Dr. Kimble was investigating the case. I wonder how he would've felt
if it was discovered that he was innocent? Marshals and Corrections
officers do have the right to shoot in the back an unarmed fleeing
escaping convict but still how would he have felt killing an innocent
man?
