No thanks. I'd rather have the one kept in cages and fattened up with milk.

No, that's what remotes are designed for. When the movie, or whatever, gets to a gory part, you flip channels. Of course, you have to be careful with timing, you don't want to return before the gory stuff is over, but wait too long and you miss the rest of the show.
And there's always a risk that you get distracted by the other show, and don't return to the first one.
It's harder with DTV, since it takes time to accumulate the picture, so the leaping between channels is not as fast.

SN: Yep. It's a real pain.

many of those pre-bagged greens say right on them that they are 'pre-washed' and many studies have shown that washing the stuff actually increases the likelihood of contamination because of other issues in the kitchen area. The only real solution is just to avoid fruits and vegetables altogether since they cause the greatest amount of foodborne illness. if people want to remain safe and healthy they should just eat meat. here is some more food for thought:
'In addition, bovine protein is not supposed to be fed to other bovines.
However, bovine protein is routinely fed to egg-laying chickens, and the
"litter" from those chickens - chicken excrement and the feed that spills
onto the floor - is collected and rendered back into cattle feed.'

But not chicken from Safeway (yes, this is a NEW problem).

From: Obve...@aol.com (Obveeus) the TV manufacturer failing to provide your unit with an off switch.

Why are you still shopping at Safeway?
Side note: if you are going to snip text, don't snip the part about cows being fed chicken poop as a diet supplement. Some things need time to furment in readers' minds.

It's a long haul to the next place?
Most of what I get there is non edible (including the chicken, har har).
Last night I was there at 8ish as they were closing out "five dollar Friday" were most of the $5 specials were ... $6.99. Anyway the hot food aisle was closing out and he was putting the chicken in containers for $5 and convinced me to take one ... stuff was hard as a rock on the outside but completely undercooked (red raw bloody) at the bone. It was like Bobby Flay had prepared it, which is to say, I threw it out.
