'Fringe' Season 5: Seth Gabel will not return as a series regular
By Carina Adly MacKenzie

We were hoping for some kind of "Fringe" twist that would keep fan
favorite Seth Gabel around as Lincoln Lee, but it looks like it's not
in the cards.

Last season, Gabel's alternate-universe version of Lincoln died, and
"our" Lincoln decided to stay in the other universe when the bridge
between the two worlds was closed. Thus, TVLine confirms that Gabel
will not be returning to "Fringe" in Season 5 -- at least, not as a
series regular.

There is still potential that he could be back in a guest-starring
role, as executive producers refuse to rule out the possibility of
opening up the bridge during the final 13 episodes. Though we're glad
to be spending the final season with our old favorites, we definitely
wouldn't be opposed to checking in on the alternate versions --
particularly to see whether Olivia and Lincoln are able to make it
work on the other side.

That's a pretty big loss. He's become increasingly important and is a
good character/actor.

I suppose the actor saw the writing on the wall when his original character
was killed off.

Not returning as a regular simply means he won't be in every episode. I'm
sure we'll see him once or twice during the final 13 episodes. I'll be
surprised if he doesn't appear in the finale.
