I like that Sarah Palin character. She should keep it, just put
it into various situations (not unlike that shopping channel skit).
They could even make a movie out of the skit, just like so many
SNL skits before it.

30 Rock would go to an altogether sur-surreal level (even for
post-modernism) if Fey started playing *both* Liz Lemon and Sarah
Palin on the show. I don't think that there's ever going to be anyone
in television besides Tina Fey herself who'll ever be in the position
to even possibly *consider* doing that, much less do what Fey has
already done with her Palin impersonation and with 30 Rock
separately.[1] Maybe Sasha Baron Cohen, but he doesn't bear any
resemblance to any national-level US politician anyway.

The Governor fills the vacancy. If there's one or two federal elections
intervening, the unexpired term is filled by special election at the
next federal election. That person takes over immediately from the
person the governor appointed.
Both of your answers read together get us to the truth.
Vacancies in the House, on the other hand, are filled by special
election that would not take place at a federal election, not by
appointment.

The governor wouldn't fill the vacancy till the special election as he
would for a resignation or death? Could you provide a citation for that,
since we've not had an expulsion in my lifetime?
