And numbers like these are why audiences of 3M for a skiffy show will
lose the airtime and expenses battles with sports fans every time.
Especially since a lot of those 3M skiffy fans are also sports fans.
(I'm one of them.)

A fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Rovers?

I added the 'Rovers' as a salute to yesterday's news about moving to the
ACC.

A move was almost inevitable after the recent Big East implosion and all
of the other realignments that have taken place.

With ND, I really don't care much about the BE versus ACC bit for hoops
and non-revenues, although the thought of some NC and Duke basketball
games on the horizon is actually appealing. What worries me is the
commitment to five ACC football games each year, which means that some
of ND's longstanding rivalries will take a hit. At the moment, it sounds
as if Navy and U$C are safe, but some Bigger Ten traditions might have
to be cut back. I'd be okay with losing Purdon't, but I'd hate to lose
either of the Michigan games. Time will tell, but a lot of the
scheduling questions remain to be answered.

I bet it has something to do with the restructuring of the BCS. The
powers that be probably told them their special status was unsustainable.

The football team is the only Notre Dame sports program that did not join
the ACC, but yes, playing a few ACC games rather than Big East games will
probably help Notre Dame maintain credibility for a BCS selection.

But they still have special status, unless I missed something.
