ABC's 'Malibu' solid in debut
Sandy telethon also draws viewers
By Jon Weisman
ABC sitcom ''Malibu Country'' premiered to respectable ratings for its
Friday timeslot, winning the 8:30 p.m. segment among broadcast nets,
according to preliminary nationals from Nielsen.
NBC's telethon for Hurricane Sandy relief tied for second place
between 8 and 9 p.m. in the 18-49 demo, although that program had
additional viewers from being simulcast on numerous cable outlets.
''Malibu Country,'' starring and exec produced by Reba McEntire, had a
2.2 rating and 7 share among viewers 18-49 and 8.9 million viewers
overall. It built upon its lead-in, the season-two premiere of ''Last
Man Standing'' (1.9/7, 7.8 million).
''Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together'' (1.5/5, 6.2 million), hosted by
Matt Lauer and featuring performances by Bruce Springsteen, Christina
Aguilera and Sting among others, matched the season premiere of CBS'
''Undercover Boss'' (1.5/5, 7.9 million) in the demo. By comparison,
''Boss'' delivered a 2.4/8 in 18-49 for a Friday timeslot premiere in
February.
The top-rated program of the night in 18-49 was ''Shark Tank'' (2.3/7,
7.3 million) for ABC, which won the night in the demo. CBS was tops in
overall viewers.

In reality, most of the viewers probably didn't even know there was a cast change and bought into the promo about how the girls were simply growing up and looking different.
That was a horrible change. The character is unlikeable as is the baby daddy. They appear to be trying to turn it into a remake of Archie Bunker. They'd have been better off just dumping the older daughter and the kid or keeping the original actress who was likeable. If they keep going to the replacement and the dud baby daddy, I'll not be watching. When Reba is better, someone screwed up.

I'm really glad I let LMS go - I think I would have destroyed my TV trying to watch this, otherwise... :/

We are talking about a group of people that watches 'LAST MAN STANDING', so that was a given.

Oh, BS. It'd be worth watching for Tim Allen, alone. Nancy Travis and Hector Elizondo are certainly good on the show. Granted, I missed it Friday, and missed some of Season 1, but most of what I saw last season was pretty good.
