What's the deal with Andy and Erin on The Office (spoilers)

With the age of Hulu, I'm pretty sure I've caught every episode of the
past few season, yet a gap in logic eludes me. They had a thing for
each other, he laid back, letting Gabe date Erin. But they had a nasty
breakup, and it actually looked like Andrin was happening, but there's
something I missed and Erin has the hots for Andy, but he started
dating someone else, but it wasn't the usual situation of having to
find someone else because his love was going unrequited.

Now Now he's going to Florida, because she went on the trip and
decided to stay, so this might all resolve itself, but how did it get
here in the first place when the logical thing would have been staying
together once they got together, because he's met her family and all
that.
