I just read the program guide that was posted for MWC. It was GREAT!!
I had some questions about the cast that I hop someone can answer for me.
Where did this great cast come from?? I had never heard of any of them except
Amanda Bearse, who was in some vampire movie and Jefferson, Happy Days fame.
Can someone tell me why David Garrison left the show?? Why was Katey Sagal off
of the show for a while? What ever happened to the new baby storyline?? Marcy
was pregnant too, what happened to their baby??

Thanks in advance,
Jada

I can only give you one item. Katey Sagal was on Mary Tyler Moore's
short-lived sitcom called "Mary".

That would be Fright Night, also starring William Ragsdale, who
plays Herman in Herman's Head - which used to follow MWC on
Sundays. That's just another of those coincidence things...

She was on a soap opera, All My Children

David Garrison was on a show with a young pre-teen or just-teen Jason
Bateman. (Someone help me out, I can't remember the show's name).

To be in a broadway show I think.

It's Your Move, and it also starred Jason Bateman (main character)
Tricia Cast (his sister), Karen Caye (sp? his mother) and I
think Ernie Sabella (landlord?). David was always trying to go out with Jason's
mother, and Jason was always plotting nasty stuff against him. It was probably
one of my favorite shows (at the time anyway)

Jefferson (Ted McGinley) was on Happy Days and The Love Boat. They make
references to that once in a while, one time they had some kids asking him
if he was the photographer on The Love Boat. Another time he said something
like "Can I take your picture captain, er uh, Fonzie, er uh Al"

Hmm I think most of them were newcomers when the show started. Also Ted
McGinley was on the Love Boat in it's final few seasons.
Katey Sagal was actually pregnant when they have this storyline, so they
made Marcy pregnant. Unfortunately, Sagal went into premature labor and
the baby was stillborn. Well this season Sagal is pregnant, but they
decided not to write the baby into the show.

When Sagal lost the baby, they had it written into the show, as Al having
a bad dream.
I have also noticed that in airing the reruns, they skip these episodes
too.

Amanda Bearse was in the vampire movie "Fright Night". It's a really
good*funny*scary movie! The movie also stars the guy who stars in Hermans
Head, Chris Sarandon, and Roddy McDowell.

Yes, that's it, It's Your Move, it was driving me nuts that I couldn't remember
the name. That show was great but no-one else ever seemed to know about it.

David Garrison was also on a very short-lived show with Jane Curtin
and Micahel(?) Collins. He was Collin's best friend. It was a
story about how Jane's character and Collin's character were slowly
but surely building a romance. I liked it and David Garrison was very good.

OU>references to that once in a while, one time they had some kids asking him

That sequence actually touched on both. Some kids were hounding him
about being on Happy Days (they were in a TV theme park), and he said
"No. My name is Jefferson D'Arcy". Kid goes "Was that your name on
the Love Boat?"

I also noticed that there was a picture of Seven Bundy on again in the
finale. That makes 2 appearances of the character in three episodes.
The first one was better, where he was the picture on a "Missing kid"
thing on a milk carton. :)

Thanks Lisa for the info. This is one of the few times I must say that someone
in tv used good judgement and taste. I think it is pretty darn decent that
they respect what must be pretty painful for Sagal. Damn, I'm shocked!!

DM>>Used to play Herman. Fox cancelled the show. I'm rather irritated
DM>>about that.

DM>Yea, you and me both!!

Bill Frieberger said on the Rime Fox TV conference that they even
tried retooling the show to save it. Something about not having
enough episodes for strip syndication. :(

It briefly involved having Crawford start some sort of magazine, and
Jay and Herman would have been reporters. Herman would have gotten
married, and we would get "head" shots of his wife, too.

To 'avoid confusion' (their words), the head characters in Herman's
Head would have been all male. That meant no Angel. Also, in the
real world side, Heddy and Bracken would not have made the transition.
With such a radical change, I'm kind of glad that part didn't make it.
I would have wanted it to be the original.

At the time, I remember thinking that the final HH episode would have
made a good last episode. It was almost as if they knew it would have
been the last one.

Dean, I'll try and get you the exact text from Bill for your guide, if
you want it. I'll try and get more info on this as well.

Well, I used to watch Herman's Head when it first started, but
then after a while, it got really boring. In the beginning, it was
all the happenings of a guy on a career path, but towards the end,
the writers, decided to make it into a "look how many girls Herman
can score with!" show. See Herman with Marcia Brady! See Herman with
the fly girls from in Living Color! See Herman go to an Island with
lots of women! It really got tiring after a while, so I'm not
surprised it got cancelledd... they should have stuck with their
original idea... Episodes like the one where Herman has been told
by his boss that he has to go skydiving, or the one where he decides
to get a gun, etc. The few episodes he had with the "steady" girlfriend
was good too... (The one where they move in together), because it
seemed like the beginning of developing a character for Herman...
But then they had to break up because we had to see him with
a different woman each week... I guess they were going for the
fourteen year old male audience...

*sigh*

Most production companies don't want to eat the cost of producing additional
shows to fill out a syndication package (shows can run from $500,000 to
$1,500,000 to produce - and they would have to make about 20 more). And new
comedy programming in syndication hasn't been sucessfull for at least 5 years.
