Excellent performance even Timothy Dalton is great
(Who wanted him ditch as JAmes Bond, mistake)!
Tennant gives a grand bow out.
RTD does repeat theme as the Corrupt Gallifrey (see Trial of a Time Lord
and 5 Doctors) very well.
Gallifrey could come back, but a Battle Royale should
happen from 11 to 12 to cure the Time Lock Issue!
Even John Simm as the Master is funny and insane. Loved it.
The Doctor is back and even MAtt Smith is Funny
(Hope he can fix the TARDIS).
End of TIme ie is it the End ofthe Time Lords?
In fact there were in the wrong side of time to return.
Also President Rassilon? Something is wrong here.
I doubt the original Rassilon will approve.
I look forward to MAtt Smith.
The twists and turns in End of Time is GRAND.
None of the TARDIS in ex machina. Thr RTD and Tennant eras
go out on a high note!
Simply I am overwhelmed.

I want to see a TV movie/mini series that brings back Paul McGann to show

Child, the Skaro Degradations, the Hordes of Travesty and all the other
horrors of the time war.

Agreed! Wanting credit for the destruction of humanity and then asking to
join the Time Lords as pure consciousness. The way he went from would be
destroyer of Time Lords to sucking up to them was marvelous.

What? Restate that, please... it makes no sense, as there was no
"Romana" mentioned anywhere for the name to be changed.
Yads actually has a valid point for a change... Unless Rassilon is a
title, and not a name.
Or are we to believe that the modern Time Lords plucked Rassilon out
of the past to install him as Lord President of the now?
It was stated in the RTD/Julie Gardner commentary (BBC Radio 7) that she
was The Doctor's mother.
Of course, that could easily be changed by the next production team if
they want to.
The fall from the radio telescope in Logopolis was enough to kill him.
Other than two hearts the doctor has generally been portrayed as being frail
as any human. *Although* wasn't it recently established that the Doctor is
immune to radiation?

Here's another. What happened to the millions of people incarcerated?
Presumably the Master let them out...
How about new born babies and other toddlers? So they were they turned into
fully grown adult Masters (where they might have walked or driven off to do
Who knows what) then back into babies (perhaps miles from home). Presumably
we're not supposed to ask such questions. But hey, if Wilfred can ask about
his wife's corpse...
I hope the Master knows how to fly/land a plane or steer a nuclear submarine
or operate a nuclear power plant for that matter. He probably does but
still some discussion about these topics and why someone with the mind of
the Master would reconcile himself to doing the many service and non skilled
tasks necessary for the world to continue to operate.
The ramifications of what the Master did are HUGE with or without people
remembering exactly what happened. Although since a lot of it was filmed
live as it happened... Of course this being the Who universe it will
probably not be addressed. :-(

Really? When Wilfred asked the Doctor who she was, the Doctor
didn't answer, but he didn't answer while looking at Donna,
Wilf's *granddaughter*. I mean, how big a hint could they give?

Well, the Time Lords are gone, never to return again. Really.
Considering we had Donna, who couldn't get involved in an
adventure again lest her brain burn out --which was established
in the episode featuring the return of Rose from a dimension that
could never contact ours again --which happened in the episode
featuring the return of the Daleks which had been wiped out for
all time... I guess TARDIS should be stocked up with enough beer
and chips for a LOT of guests for the end of next year.

Something is wrong! Rassilon is entombed as establish in T5D.

The Doctor's Mother? How? In DW:TWM she has human traits!

Actually, he flashed from Wilf to Donna's mother to Donna - as if
tracing a line...
I think it's more likely that the woman was the next point in that line
- Donna's daughter, or some descendant. Somehow, it's all the result of
the meta crisis.

Yeah, they dismissed that when the British took it back.

`Geronimo`. He says it in the trailer as well so it could be his
catchphrase. I can see it becoming annoying. Why do these new Doctors need
catchphrases anyway?
Why not? They resurrected the Master to fight in the war.

Does a _Time_ War even have a "now"? Maybe its "now" takes place
simultaneously in all eras of Gallifreyan history.

Or it might just be his name. We reuse names, why not Timelords?
And it is established that they do have access to the Time Scoop (T5D).
Do we think they would not try to use Rassilon in a Time War on
Gallifrey, given the creatures mentioned.
I would still favor the mystery woman being Romana as she has the
capability of moving through time/space without the Tardis (as of
Warrior's Gate).
I'm not saying it's canon, but I got it from here:
"It was stated in the "Meet the Doctor" section of Doctor Who Annual 2006
that the President of the Time Lords during the Time War was Romana -
Rassilon is not mentioned. As mentioned by Rassilon in the narration at the
end of Part 1, the Master's action had a great consequence."
http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/The_End_of_Time_(TV_story)
| Was that THE Rassilon or someone that corrupt to call himself
| Rassilon?
I initially thought the latter, but I don't think the Doctor would have
dignified him by using the name in that case.
Other random thoughts:
They used my idea of a dying time traveler delivering a (possibly)
winning lottery number.
The Time Lords are Ancients! (Or maybe the Ori)
Nothing that happened seemed to have anything to do with the Doctor's
over-extending himself in his time meddling. I'm not sure why I was
expecting it would.
Did they explain why Wilfred didn't change?
The death chamber contrivance was almost as forced as the ending of
Children of Earth. Really bad design or was it intended to punish
careless operators?
Rassilon seemed to be trying to convince the Doctor to shoot the Master
rather than him. If either would have broken the link what could this
accomplish? And why wasn't it immediately obvious to all the parties
that you could just shoot the machine?
I was hoping the Doctor would give Jack the code to unbreak his time/space
machine. The last time the Doctor broke it he had not been the one who
previously fixed it.
Mixed in with The Matrix Revolutions was some other movie I can't quite
put my finger on. Some group was coming back, and it initially seemed
like a good idea, but then it wasn't. Not Howard the Duck and not The
Dunwich Horror...

Nope. He was just amusedly waiting to see which one of them the
Doctor would try to shoot. He didn't care, because wearing the
gauntlet of the real Rassilon, a bullet couldn't kill him, and
shooting the Master wouldn't break the link. There were billions of
Masters out there, all of whom would still be there even if the
template was killed.

Saving Mickey & Martha and the others as "one last time, then
I'll quit"? Actually, he seemed to get over that whole thing on
his vacation before answering the call of the Ood ("got
married..." etc., etc.)
>Did they explain why Wilfred didn't change?
He was in that death chamber contrivance, which was impervious to
all radiation; when he went in he said he wasn't seeing that

A random thought about the Ood: are they evolving into something
like the Tharils of "Warrior's Gate"? It would be interesting to
play it as a blessing and a curse, use them sparingly, and keep
it all sort of vague and wibbley-wobbley.

I'm terrible with faces too.
BTW, what does this have to do with James Bond?

Good point... sometimes we avoid thinking of the simple, obvious answers!
Still a Time LAdy Ithink.

Good point. I guess maybe he just figured it wouldn't make a
difference, the Doctor wouldn't really do it, or he could stop it.
RTD made the show, so I am sure he knows what he means! The lady is
supposed to be The Doctor's Mother, like it or not. However, maybe Donna
(with her Doctor bit inside her) eventually turns out to be his Mother?!!!

> Well, the Time Lords are gone, never to return again. Really.
Er... they said that before. So don't be surprised if like the Daleks we
get to see them one day in the future.
The TVM was a co-production IIRC. But regardless of that, RTD can ignore
anything that he wants to from any era of Doctor Who, and he does, just as
Mr Moffat can ignore anything from the RTD era if he wants to.
(Inconsistencies are now put down to the wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey
effect!)
So while RTD might have intended that 'the woman' is the Doctor's Mother,
one day it could easily turn out that she isn't!

Have you heard the commentary? Julie Gardner says it's the Doctor's
mother, but RTD says something like "She is? What? No no no... You're
mad!" In other words, that was what Julie Gardner interpreted the
woman to be, and was sticking to her assertation (no matter what the
writer of the episode was saying) -- RTD pretty much says it's NOT
supposed to be his mother.

No. You suggested that he called himself Rassilon because he was
corrupt, not because that happened to be his name.
Yes but it sounded like he was mocking! As we couldn't see his face, I am
presuming that he had some sort of wicked grin on it, knowing that he'd be
stirring the internet crowds up!!!
Just remember the Doctor's maternal side is human.
In The NExt Doctor even Doctor 8 is confimred.
And could be just another Time Lady.
Love the DW Discussion and debate.
Eat your heart out JFl (John Fleming).
I don't think that counts as the lady definitively being the Doctor's
mother ("like it or not"). He's given no indication whatsoever!
Personally, I don't think he knows who the woman in white is himself
-- it's intentionally vague (which I really quite like -- I like to
imagine it's the Master's mother).
Maybe, maybe not... maybe one day you will find out? It depends on how
seriously you take one simple line in one DW story out of over 150
(approx), over 46 years!
I personally think from his tone that RTD did know, and that his mocking
denial was confirming it, but in a nod-nod wink-wink sort of way. As he
didn't state who she actually was and only mocked Julie Gardner's
statement. When RTD and JG were sitting down doing the commentary, it
wasn't the first time the woman would have cropped up in discussions, as
they must have had many many meetings during the production of The End of
Time to sort out who 'she' was. So the "What?!" "you are mad!" retort came
across just as a mock denial... to me anyway. It's quite possible that the
lady will feature in future episodes one day too, so keeping people
guessing might be RTD's way of having his jollies with the nerdy fans who
get outraged by small things like that.
Personally, I couldn't give a hoot about the woman. But I'm sure that we
will find out one day.
>
> I count DW:TVM as canon!
Yes Dave, but EVERY line of EVERY Doctor Who episode is not always gospel.
There are quite a lot of contradictions in DW over 46 years, as not every
writer on the show intended every line to be examined and referenced many
many years later. So some things might turn out to not be correct and/or
fit in with everything else.
Indeed... and it's also Doctor Who related. Unlike a lot of the trolling
garbage posted here. So stay out of it and let the thread stay on topic!!!

Which reminds me... Was it ever explained how Donna managed to survive
remembering giant wasps, daleks, etc. without burning up and dying (as
the Doctor repeatedly assured Wilf she would)?
Well it wasn't in the commentary anyway!!! :-)
Later when the Judgment of Rassilon fixes everything.
Sort of like Mawdryn Undead.
Hey I started this thread :-)
But it should have been.
> Which reminds me... Was it ever explained how Donna managed to survive

No - After she flash-fried the Masters on her block, she fell
unconscious, and we didn't see her again until her fianc found her.
Presumably, either, as part of "collecting my reward", The Doctor showed
up and re-wiped her memory (and the scene was edited out), or she
self-healed.
But nothing was explained; she was just magically OK.

I liked Timothy Dalton as "Rassilon", and think that he would be perfect for a
return, (as a cunning villain and not boring Time Lord obviously!) Whether he is
THE Rassilon though is another debate...
Exactly Dave!
So if you can ignore those type of contradictions, the "half-human" statement
from the TVM can easily be overlooked if necessary.
End of Time PArt 1 The Doctor is not allowed to cross
him own timeline.
Yes, as it's "REview with spoilers" I suppose you did! :-)
Such as it is!

The Doctor said something to the Master about not leaving her without
a defence. It may have worked to defend herself as well as zapping the
Masters. A reboot basically, erasing the returning memories.

We can only hope Donna and her 2nd husband lives happily ever after.

I thought it was rather clear by the exchange of glances that she was
Dr. Donna.

I don't think you really do. Better they should always be spoken of
with a shudder, perhaps with hints, but their actual manifestations on
screen could never match what you imagine.
I can live with "Geronimo", provided that it's *only* "Geronimo", just
as Nine's only catchphrase was "Fantastic!" They lost the run of
themselves with Ten though, to the extent that you could have written
an entire episode where he mouthed nothing but catchphrases.
Allons-y!
But.. but.. that's impossible!
Brilliant!
I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.
Don't. Don't do that. No really.
What? What?
Oh yesss! [didn't he steal that one from Churchill the dog?]
Now if we can just reverse the polarity of the neutron flow.
I thought she was supposed to be the Doctor's wife, Susan's
grandmother.
Donna's image as a Time Lord? Not from what I saw.
RTD gave us a lot to chew on.
Remembrance of the DAleks, Skaro was blown up.
Bring back the Thals and the Movellans as well.
> Simply I am overwhelmed.
You'd be overwhelmed by Sesame Street.
> We can only hope Donna and her 2nd husband lives happily ever after.
But did she ever *ask* him if he is serving a giant spider in the sky?
So what happened at the end...who was the kid...and the woman with the
books...and the other one.
I remember Rose, the 2005 one, but not the others...
..
The kid was Sarah Jane's adopted son.
The woman with the books was the descendent of the fiance of humanified
Doctor from "Human Nature" / "Family of Blood".
And of course the last woman was Rose Tyler.
-- Ken from Chicago
I thought the 4th Doctor was a Timelord, too...

Seemed like a statement not a question.
They could have, but they weren't important to the plot and would have
slowed the story which already had too many going on.

I think a Smith/Tennant crossover story where they go back to the Time
War, team up with McGann who gets killed mid-story...
Are you kidding? You didn't recognise any of the characters apart from
Rose? You seriously didn't "get" that The Doctor was saying goodbye to
his companions of the last *five years*? Martha? Mickey? Donna?
Captain Jack? Sarah Jane? Hello?
The "woman with the books" or "author" as we call them, was the
descendant of the woman that The Doctor (as John Smith) was in love
with in season three of the new series. That's why she was played by
the same actress.
You have watched the show before, I presume?
Well get the 11 Doctors!!! I have ideas!
Cloud Dreamer 1 AS 0.
11 is just silly. I mean 4 Doctors including the missing
regeneration...
