Sheesh. The world's most selfish woman, who for years has had every man,
EVERY MAN, fall hopelessly in love with her for no discernible reason, whose
doctor called her the hardest fighter (???!!!) intimating that she was his
best patient ever (when she clearly had to have been one of the worst) ...
who has treated her husband like less than mud on her shoes for years now?

Well, and does Colin have even one other patient? He's supposed to be
this world-class oncologist, but apparently he has all the time in the
world to run around and hold Reva's hand. Most doctors I'm aware of see
30 or more patients a day.

I am one of the biggest Reva fans ever...and I can't stand this

Jonathon are heartbreaking and wonderful, and showcase how talented

But her acting like she is disgusted that her husband is falling for
her sister, when she married his father and both his brothers, several
times each and most often out of spite...it just makes me want to

Well, and what the *hell* did she expect? She knew that Josh knew that
his brother had a thing for her again. She disappears with Billy without
explanation for *months* on end. Josh knows they're together, that
Reva's sharing stuff with Billy she won't share with him. How would
Reva have felt if Josh had run off with Cassie without explanation for a
few months? Are we supposed to believe she would have waited patiently
and faithfully? Hell, no. She'd have broken out the red dress in two
weeks or less.

Jon broke my heart one day this week. I guess it was Tuesday. Pelphrey &
Clarke have both done amazing acting during the storyline. I'm sure Zimmer
wanted to work with Clarke after he won his Emmy & I get that, but I hate
the way Reva makes Billy jump through hoops for her when he loves her &
doesn't get much out of her unbelievable clinging to him!!! Jon, well, he
just doesn't deserve to go through this, period, much less to find anything
to blame himself in it or to find he tried to help & it didn't work.

Oh, heavens, Zimmer has had much worse writing than this, both in stories
that were inflicted upon her - unlike this one - and other storylines that
she wanted, like this one. Zimmer does not have my sympathy at all. She's

No, Zimmer looks old these days. May be makeup and lighting, to show
how cancer's wearing on her, but it may just be age.

But then I've always thought Josh looked younger than Reva. I just
checked their ages, according to imdb, and Reva was born in 1955 and
Josh in 1958 (ok, Kim and Robert).

If you're heartless, then I'm souless. Reva deserves zilch.
And don't forget - there was also the time that Reva came back as a ghost.
Of course later they decided she wasn't dead so that whole ghost thing
became even more bizarre!
SarahE
And don't forget the ultimate "moral of the story" for that time travel
storyline: That Reva and Josh are meant to be together for always and for
all time. They were apart and then that led them to understand that they
have always been together and always would be. Always. Did I say always?
Which is what makes the 2 breakups they have had since then so totally
ridiculous.
There are times when I fully understand and agree with a new TPTB's desire
to just forget what came before. But some things - like that - make their
constant breakups so unbearable to watch.
I was such a huge Reva and Kim Zimmer fan way back when. But when she drove
off that bridge - I have not liked her since her return. My fondest hope is
that TPTB get a brain and decide to kill Reva off at the end of this
contract cycle - every 13 weeks, right? Just let her go. Think of what
they could do with the money? And the airtime!
SarahE
Maybe heartless but rather inconsistent.
Weren't YOU the main one saying how much you enjoyed the "wild and
crazy antics" of her and Billy while everyone else was screaming how
they hated the Reva-Billy-cancer-exclusive-storyline?
So you laugh with them but when they were together crying on the bed
you remain as unmoved as a concrete pillar? I mean if that's the case,
you ARE heartless; so, I guess I agree with you there.
Each time Reva stepped through the painting, she was a person living
in, say, a Victorian house and there was a Josh, an Alan, and an
Olivia. Josh was married to Olivia at the time, but was sleeping with
Alan.
In each time period, the Olivia person was deceiving or betraying the
Josh person, the Alan character was involved, and Reva and the Josh
person were drawn to each other. Reva started to figure out that if
all the other things paralleled, then maybe Olivia was cheating with
Alan and she finally busted them. The point was supposed to be that
history repeats itself, that perhaps the essence of these people
continue through time, but mostly that Reva and Josh were destined to
be together. Josh finally believed Reva and the last trip was to
Paris during WWII. They would joke later about how they would always
have Paris.
I don't think these fantasy or sci-fi types of stories belong on soap,
though every single soap has done it (except Edge of Night and maybe a
few of the older, defunct ones that were around before this trend
started), but I'll admit that I kind of liked this one.
Maybe I liked how Chappell, Raines, and Newman got to play slightly
different versions of their characters.

You mean you don't have a painting like this? It's all the rage. I
step through my painting once or twice a month.
It had to do with Reva's "sensitivity" that she got from Sarah and a
painting that belonged to Sarah. Let me look it up on SoapCentral..
This is very long and detailed, but the story did go on for quite
awhile:
"Having lost Josh again, Reva reluctantly agreed to accompany Holly on
a business trip to Chicago. There, she found herself drawn to a
painting, which seemed to talk to her. Daphne, the innkeeper,
suggested that perhaps Reva might have inherited some kind of sixth
sense from her mother. During the night, Reva sensed her mom’s
presence and so she asked to buy the painting of the seascape that had
left her mesmerized. Later, back home, when Shayne attempted to clean
his mom’s painting, he accidentally spilled nail polish remover on the
seascape, and discovered another painting underneath. That day, after
further cleaning the painting, Reva was stunned to find a portrait of
a woman who looked exactly like Olivia underneath the seascape! After
researching the mysterious woman in the portrait, Reva noticed that
the woman in the painting was wearing a necklace similar to one that
she herself owned. When Reva went to touch the necklace in the
painting, her hand passed right through it! Freaked out, Reva tried to
return the painting to the inn but was shocked to learn that there was
no record of the inn that she stayed at.
Then on a whim, Reva stepped through the painting and found herself in
New Orleans dressed as a 19th century nurse! She then found herself
face-to-face with Regina, the woman from the painting who looked just
like Olivia. Reva learned that she was a nurse who was hired to aid
Regina’s husband, Jack Robechaux, who was wounded in the Civil War.
Reva met Beau Robechaux, Jack’s son, who resembles Shayne. Reva
wandered around the Robechaux house and noticed other people who
reminded her of people from her life in the 21st century. She then
discovered that Jack was the splitting image of Josh. There was an
instant connection between Jack and Reva as she tended to his wounds.
Drawn to Reva, Jack hired her as his live-in nurse, to Regina's
disapproval. Later, Reva observed Regina hiding confederate documents
that were supposed to be delivered to Jack. She then saw Regina give a
servant a gardenia and a message to take it to General Hudson, who
looks just like Alan. As Regina grew concerned about Reva’s growing
closeness with Jack, General Hudson arrived for dinner and he brought
Miss Vandergelt, who looked just like Claire. Reva looked on and
realizes that Regina and General Hudson clearly share a connection.
Reva is worried about Regina’s betrayal of Jack. She goes to examine
the papers that Regina intercepted from Jack, but someone comes up
behind her. Just then Reva returned to the present and later showed
Alan a picture in the history book of General Hudson and asks him
about his familial history. Just then, Alan’s butler interrupted them
to give Alan a card to sign for Olivia. Reva noticed that there was a
white gardenia attached to the gift.
Later, Reva confided in her friend, Felicia that she was planning a
trip to New Orleans. With Felecia, Reva goes to New Orleans, and
visited the Robechaux house, which is now an historic landmark.
Danielle, their tour guide, looked exactly like Daphne the innkeeper
from the inn where Reva originally bought the painting of Madame
Robechaux. There, Reva read a love letter, which has been preserved,
and realized that Jack wasn’t writing to Regina – he was writing to
Reva! As Reva acquainted herself with the house, a southern gentleman
approached her and tells her to leave the past alone, or suffer the
consequences. But Reva confides in Felicia that she was connected to
the Robechaux family and she must do something to save Jack from his
execution.
When, Felicia and Reva return to Springfield. Reva stepped back
through the painting into the Robechaux House. There, Reva found a
coffin, which has been prepared for a funeral. Reva was saddened to
learn that young Beau Robechaux has been killed in battle. Jack was
touched to see Reva mourning for his son and he confided in her that
he believes Regina is cheating on him. Reva confirmed Jack’s
suspicions that Regina and General Hudson are having an affair. She
even provided Jack with the Yankee dispatches that Regina intercepted.
A furious Jack grabbed his dueling pistol and set out to kill General
Hudson, but Reva stopped him. She convinced him to put the gun away.
Regina looks on as Jack pulled Reva into an embrace and vowed revenge
on Regina and Hudson. Jack then informs Reva that he is going to leave
New Orleans and head out West. Reva, determined to solve everything,
vowed to speak with President Lincoln about General Hudson’s abuses of
power. When Regina saw how close Reva was getting to Jack she demanded
that she stay away from her husband. Regina decided to set Reva up and
secretly stowed the intercepted Yankee dispatches in Reva’s bag. When
General Hudson found the dispatches, he accused Reva of being a spy.
Jack claimed responsibility for Reva having the Yankee dispatches.
Regina was horrified to see her husband protecting Reva. Jack
confronts Regina and General Hudson about their affair, but Hudson has
both Jack and Reva arrested and carried to jail. Jack and Reva
discovered that there are plans for them to be killed by a firing
squad. In her jail cell, Reva meets Hannah, who looked exactly like
Felicia Boudreau. Hannah tried to get Reva to focus on helping herself
instead of Jack. She advised Reva to follow her heart. When Jack was
returned to his cell after being tortured by General Hudson’s men,
Hannah distracted the guards so that Reva and Jack could escape. Free,
Jack tried to convince Reva to run away with him. Reva agreed to
accompany him. But as she started to collect her belongings she ran
into Regina. Regina was furious about Reva’s closeness to Jack and
informed General Hudson that she was a spy. Reva tells Jack that she
can’t go with him, but he can go with her – through the painting.
Meanwhile, in Springfield Josh is surprised to see the portrait of
Regina in Reva’s study. He called Billy to discuss the painting. In
Civil War-era New Orleans, Jack didn’t believe it when Reva suggested
that they could go through the painting to safety, but he finally
relented and agreed to follow Reva. Suddenly, General Hudson arrived
and captured the traitors. To save Reva, Jack pushed her though the
painting.
Back in the present, Josh found her on the floor by the portrait
rambling about returning to New Orleans to save Jack. She tried to
re-enter the painting, but failed. Josh watched the scene and tried to
calm her down. After she triped and hit her head on the coffee table,
she tried to tell Josh about her time-trips. However, when it became
obvious that he didn't believe her, she covered by stating that she
was talking about a dream. Reva collapsed again and was taken to the
hospital. When Felicia visited her, Reva couldn't stop talking about
how she had to save Jack. Felicia didn’t believe her ranting until
Reva told her about Hannah, who ran the Underground Railroad. Felicia
was shocked that Reva knew so much about Felicia’s heritage, but still
believed that Reva may have been delusional.
Meanwhile, Josh and Billy tried to decipher what Reva was telling them
about the portrait of Regina. They found a picture of General Hudson
in Shayne’s history book and Billy revealed that the General is
related to Alan. Josh ran to the hospital to tell Reva what he
discovered, but she gone. Meanwhile, Reva went home and found the
portrait gone! When she demanded to know what he did with it, Josh,
Josh demanded an explanation for the portrait and its significance.
Reva finally revealed all that she knew about the past, including the
role that he played in it. She told Josh that Alan and Olivia were
having an affair. Just then, Alan and Olivia arrive. Reva tried to
pressure Josh to confront Olivia and Alan while they were together. He
decided not to and also refused Reva’s request to bring back the
portrait for her. Reva went upstairs, leaving Josh alone with Alan and
Olivia. She eavesdropped from the top of the stairs and overheard Josh
agree to Alan’s suggestion that Reva be admitted into a psychiatric
hospital in Austria. However, what Alan and Olivia didn’t know was
that Josh was lying to them. Later, Billy brought the painting back
and Reva was thrilled that Josh believed her. He then told her his
plan to catch Alan and Olivia in an insider-trading scam that would
end with them both being thrown in jail. Josh wished Reva luck with
her journey to save Jack and he went off to Company where he started
to set the trap for Olivia.
Meanwhile, Reva stepped through the painting, only instead of finding
herself in New Orleans, she found herself in a house in Edwardian
England. The first people she met were the butler, Mr. Loomis, and the
maid, Phoebe, who look exactly like Richard and Cassie. Meanwhile back
in the present, Josh told Olivia that Reva is on her way to a clinic
in Austria. Progressing with his plan to set up Alan and Olivia, Josh
“accidentally” let it slip that he was planning to take Lewis
Construction public.
In Edwardian England, Reva came face-to-face with John MacGregor, who
looks exactly like Josh. They were soon joined by Constance, the lady
of the manor, who looked like Olivia. Reva questions Constance about
the painting of Regina Robechaux and Constance reveals that Regina was
her mother. Reva noticed that while Constance was not married to John,
she was definitely interested in him, despite John’s attraction to
Reva. In Edwardian England, Sir Arthur, the Lord of the Manor, who
resembles Alan, was talking with his son Rupert. Reva and John look on
as Rupert and Tabitha, who looks like Tammy, meet and express their
love. Reva realized how similar their young love story is to hers and
Josh’s: Rupert is the son of the wealthy Arthur, while Tabitha is the
daughter of Mrs. Loomis, the maid. Reva told John about her past and
the two bonded. Reva told Constance’s daughter, Esmee, about liberal
ideals like equality for women. Constance , furious that Reva would
tell her daughter such things, tried to fire Reva, but Arthur refused
to let her go. Arthur approached Reva and confided in her that
Constance seemed to be attracted to John. He urged Reva to gain John’s
favor and get him to marry her. John tried to help Reva by distracting
Constance. He asked Constance to join him in the garden. Tabitha ran
to Reva insisting that she wais in trouble and needs Reva’s help.
Tabitha tells Reva that the maid, Ginny, has found her love letters
from Rupert and will expose their young love to Constance. Reva,
noticing the similarities between Tabitha’s love affair and her own
childhood with Josh, defended the children to Constance. Constance was
infuriated and threatened to have Reva committed to an insane asylum.
John punched Arthur while standing up for Reva and insisted that she
does not need to be committed.
John asked Reva to run away with him, but she turned him down and
returned to Springfield through the painting. She ran straight into
Josh’s arms and the two head off to Alan’s. There, Olivia was
horrified when Alan announced that he owned 51% percent of Lewis
Construction. Reva, Josh and the SEC burst in to arrest Alan. Josh
stood by while the SEC arrests Olivia as well. Despite Josh’s
reservations, Reva walked through the painting to see what Alan will
do to them.
Josh moved through the portrait and found himself in 1940’s Paris.
General Krieger and Marie, Alan and Olivia look-alikes, arrested him
and accused him of being Reva’s co-conspirator. Krieger beat up Josh
and saw the portrait of Regina, decides that he liked it and took it
away with him. He gave an order for Reva and Josh to be executed. Reva
realizes that Josh trusted her enough to step through the painting and
they set their minds on finding the portrait. Reva thought that Josh
should concentrate on learning something from the past, like what was
in Krieger’s secret bag, rather than just getting home. In Paris, Reva
discovered where General Krieger was keeping the painting. Josh and
Reva came up with a plan to use Marie to help them escape. Josh
flirted with Marie and then knocked her unconscious. He then knocked
out the guard. He and Reva were prepared to escape from the wine
cellar as they heard the sound of tanks approaching in the background.
But, Josh and Reva couldn’t find the portrait of Regina and grew
concerned that they might be trapped in the past. When they found the
painting, Reva was torn between returning to Springfield and staying
to help a resistance fighter named Robert, who was the spitting image
of Shayne. They decided to stay, helped the resistance fighter and
stole General Krieger’s satchel that was filled with his plans. Reva
discovered how Krieger’s plans affected her and Josh. Before she can
tell him what she has discovered, Ronnie Neames, an American soldier
who looked like Billy, arrived and insisted that they all celebrate
the liberation of Paris.
Reva and Josh acknowledged their special connection and realized that
always be in each other’s lives. They grew passionate as they
considered the idea of living happily ever after. Later, Reva
discovered General Krieger’s secret papers hidden in the portrait and
gave the worker orders to ship the portrait back to New Orleans.
Josh and Reva then put their heads together and figured out that Alan
was making plans to destroy the Harbor Project. So, in 2002, Josh and
Reva collected more information about Alan’s plan to destroy the
Harbor Project. They found Olivia and warned her that they were not
going to let her and Alan destroy them. Olivia, not knowing what they
were talking about, proclaimed her innocence. Reva believed Olivia and
convinced Josh that she may be the only person who could find out the
truth from Alan. They devised a plan and Olivia approached Alan. In an
effort to comfort a seemingly hysterical Olivia, Alan told her his
whole plan to destroy the project, which Josh overheard via Olivia’s
cell phone.
Josh and Reva then confronted him and managed to persuade Alan to call
off his plan by threatening to reveal a public relations nightmare –
that his ancestors were tied to the Nazi’s. Alan agreed to their
demands, which included selling back Lewis Oil. Josh joined Reva and
they bonded when they found a photo of them in Paris, proving the
adventure they were on was real.
A few months after their reunion, Josh surprised Reva, at Cross Creek
by asking Hawk for his daughter's hand in marriage and the couple
married in June in a beautiful ceremony at Cassie's new hotel, with
many old friends and relatives in attendance. "

I swear it is true. We are good, but I don't think that even we could make
this up. In fact, we're too good. It takes really bad writing to make it
up.

Here's what I remember.
Reva was staying at an inn and there was a painting in her room that was
just putting her almost into a trance. She would stare at it and was drawn
to it. She ended up buying it and brought it home.
Shayne ended up spilling something on it and it disolved the top layer of
paint to the point where Reva saw another painting underneath. She cleaned
it off and turns out it was a portrait of a woman who looked exactly like
Olivia, and the woman was wearing a necklace similar to one that Reva either
owned or had owned.
At one point she reached her hand out to touch the necklace and it passed
through. I can't remember what possessed her to take her whole self through
it, but at some point she did. I think she ended up in the Civil War that
time.
Can't really remember anymore. I think I blocked it out.

Reva deserves a far better storyline and a better husband! I agree, it
is sleazy b/c I don't think she was married while she was dating all
the various significant other's relatives. Crazy...crazy. But, she's
got my sympathies for havign been reduced to this nonsense... I want
the ol'Reva with spunk back!
But since I've long since stopped taping (and, only tape ATWT
sporadically) I really could give a rat's ass less about GL or how
Reva's dramatically aged (yeah, I noticed too!
Reva was married to HB when she cheated on him with Josh. Basically,
though, her "crimes" tend not to involve her cheating on her spouse.
She doesn't have a problem being the other woman, though, as when Josh
was married to Annie and Sonni.

I had a good Latino friend while in h.s. whose grandmother was
absolutely gorgeous. They had one of those households where three
generations lived under one roof. I enjoyed talking to her and we
would sit and chat for long periods. One day I was in the living room
waiting for Pablo as usual and the grandmother said. "You know, while
I was growing up in Panama I worked as a domestic for too many years.
That is what all the women in my country did; scrub, and clean for lazy
caucasian women! Back then, I use to think: Caucasian women have it
good! They don't have to cook, clean or take care of their own
children. But, as the years went by I realized that they were not as
blessed. Because, (then she sort of paused as if in reflection...)
those Caucasian women don't usually age very well."
Reading this made me think of that conversation
Yes, and wouldn't that perfectly explain why in this white
supremist-based society so much emphasis is constantly put on YOUTH.
True. The anti-aging chemical is MELANIN. Pure God-given miracle. No
creams needed for anti-aging, under-eye circles, eye-puffiness, crow's
feet, etc.. None needed.
But I have no need for make-up either.

I don't consider non-black women and non-hispanic women to be pasty
looking at all, but the aging sure shows more. I have need for lots of
make-up, but I don't use it much anymore. :-)

Have you ever been to Europe? I've always been teased for being too
pale but the citizens of Ireland, Norway and most of the northeastern
states made me look like I was born in the tropics. I remember reading
what Mark Twain wrote on this very same subject as he strolled through
London square. It's quite comical...

Pale is one thing, but "pasty" doesn't fit IMO.

LOL!
Check it out: I found what Samuel Langhorn Clemmens, known to all as
Mark Twain wrote so I figured since I mentioned it - - I might as well
put it out there ...
In "Skin Deep" one of a collection of essays entitled "The
Damned Human Race, Twain described a gathering of people in India ,
commenting on their costumes and complexions as follows:
....The company present...made a fine show, an exhibition of human
fireworks, so to speak, in the matters of costumes and commingling of
brilliant color....
I could have wished to start a rival exhibition there, of Christian
hats and clothes. It would have been a hideous exhibition, a
thoroughly devilish spectacle. Then there would not have been the
added disadvantage of the white complexion. It is not an unbearably
unpleasant complexion when it keeps to itself, but when it comes into
competition with masses of brown and black the fact is betrayed that it
is endurable only because we are used to it. Nearly all black and
brown skins are beautiful but a beautiful white skin is rare...Where
dark complexions are masses they make the whites look bleached out,
unwholesome, and sometimes frankly ghastly. I could notice this down
South in the slavery days before the war. The splendid black satin
skin of the South African Zulus of Durban seemed to me to come very
close to perfection.
I can see those Zulus yet....handsome and intensely black creatures,
moderately clothed in loose summer stuffs whose snowy whiteness made
the black all the blacker by contrast. Keeping that group in my mind,
I can compare those complexions with the white ones which are streaming
past this London window now....
Twain continues,
The advantage is with the Zulu, I think. He starts with a beautiful
complexion and it will last him through. And as for the Indian, brown
- firm, smooth, blemishless, pleasant and restful to the eye, afraid
of no color, harmonizing with all colors, and adding grace to them all
- I think there is no sort of chance for the average white complexion
against that rich and perfect tint.

As a massage therapist, I can add that really dark skin *feels*
different. I got a lot of my early massage experience at a black-owned
salon where 2/3 of my clientele were black, and I was startled at the
wonderful velvety feel of really dark skin. I'm sure it has to do with
the thickness caused by the concentration of melanin. Really wonderful.

Wow; funny but they never taught me *any* of these essays during any of
my English lit classes...
In your classes was Moby Dick by the famous 19th century novelist
Herman Melville studied? I recall being equally wowed by what he wrote
in Moby Dick...
What is it that in the Albino man so peculiarly repels and often shocks
the eye, as that sometimes he is loathed by his own kith and kin! It
is that whitness which invests him, a thing expressed by the name he
bears. The Albino is as well made as other men - has no substantive
deformity - and yet this mere aspect of all-pervading whiteness makes
him more stragely hideous than the ugliest abortion: Why should this
be so?
I was taught at quite a very young age that the in the ancient times,
when a man had a white spot in his skin or white or yellow hair, or
white skin somewhat reddish, he was pronounced unclean. All people who
were victims of this shameful disease were isolated outside of the camp
or city. In ancient times, leprosy was the gradual 'whitening of the
skin' (Michael Jackson). Those that had leprosy were called lepers and
they had to shout "unclean, unclean." All people in the ancient world
who had yellow hair and leprosy were despised and segregated.
Today, blonde hair is revered the world over.
> Today, blonde hair is revered the world over.
Well, kind of ... sort of; blond jokes persist.
I know this is very late [I've been having pc problems], but I have to add a
hearty AMEN to that "red dress" comment, Dana! That is exactly what she
would do!!! I'm another one, who has no sympathy for her at all.
However, I'm as disgusted with Josh and Cassie's behavior as well. Can't
stand to even watch them... hope all of this goes away soon.
