Y&R: Another casting spoiler

In its latest casting move, The Young and the Restless has fired Marcy
Rylan. Rylan joined Y&R as Abby in 2010, after a three-year run on CBS's
Guiding Light.

There has been another casting cut at The Young and the Restless. Marcy
Rylan (Abigail Newman) has been cut from the show.

"I had a blast at Y&R and I'm taking all those awesome memories with
me," Rylan told followers on Twitter. "I am so excited to see what will
come next! Love you all!"

According to sources, Rylan's ouster, which became public on the same
day as Genie Francis's (Genevieve Atkinson) dismissal from the show, has
caught nearly everyone by surprise.

"No one ever imagined that [Marcy's] job would be in danger," a show
source told Soap Opera Digest, adding that Rylan's character is part of
Y&R's two core families.

Rylan's on-screen mom, Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott) was let go from
Y&R earlier this year to make way for the actress to return to Days of
our Lives.

Rylan joined The Young and the Restless in March 2010 as an "aged"
recast of Abby. Prior to joining Y&R, the actress appeared for three
years on Guiding Light as Lizzie Spaulding. In each of her three years
of eligibility, Rylan was pre-nominated by her peers in Guiding Light's
in-house Outstanding Supporting Actress Daytime Emmy vote.

Considering JFP's history with Genie Francis back on GH, I'm
not too surprised at Genevieve being cut. Wasn't there supposed
to be a "kiss and make up" to have happened with JFP according
to the interview with GF posted here a few weeks ago? So much
for that!

I am surprised at Marcy Rylan being canned since Abby is a big
part of both core families. Again, JFP in action I guess.

Anyone want to bet how long before we see a recast of either or
both of these characters with convenient FoJs?

Somehow I don't have a warm and fuzzy feeling about the direction
the show is going to be taken.

That sucks ass!! I liked this incarnation of Abby (much better than the
last one). Marcy Rylan could hold her own with the adults rather well.
Kinda surprised at this move considering JFP was quoted as saying she
intended to build the Abbotts back up. I wonder if they will recast.
Then again, I haven't watched in months so I don't really care (insert
smiley face here). Marcy rocked as Abby though.

I think Marcy Rylan is great. Loved her as Lizzy Spalding on GH as well, even had my hopes up, she'd get a good story line with her buying up Newman stock.
At GL she took over Spalding at one time (yes, fairy tale story line without any hold in reality) and I was hoping that the crazy naked heiress would do the same with Newman.
Hate to see her go.

Letting go of MR was a big mistake. This actress had the "I am an entitled Abbott Newman" down perfectly.

She's a very good actress. I'll miss her. She did a great job as a
spoiled little rich girl.
