Did you not notice that the subject line said "Ignore"?? Excuse the hell out
of me, I wanted to see if there was something wrong with posting to this
newsgroup, not to alt.test. Aren't you so smug and brilliant?
Usually when I post, it shows up minutes later. It had been at least an
hour or two, and it still wasn't there. I checked my other newsgroups to
see if I accidently posted to the wrong group.
Why don't you go check other posts for inccorect headers and spelling
mistakes?

She had no valid reason for posting in this newsgroup. If your server
is working posting to a test group is valid & tells you that you're
getting through to Usenet. It's some kind of myth that there's a
reason to post to a non-test group to see if your posts are coming
through. Perpetuating myths is unnecessary & makes it difficult for
people care enough to get it right. Sure, we all get things wrong but
when we do & are called on it, the best answer is, 'oops, I'm sorry,
here was my problem what would be a better way to handle it'.

IIRC she only had difficulties posting to this group, not to all of Usenet and
that's why she posted here. Seems valid to me.

If I may be so bold, I think your initial response sounded very
condescending (big surprise there) and that's why she didn't say what

Donna, you are absolutely right. I was being lazy by not going to alt.test.
I was having a bad day and jumped all over you for no reason. You were just
trying to humorously point out that I shouldn't have posted a test post in
this ng. I reacted badly to being "netcopped".

Humor is very subjective. From my point of view, taking into account
my intent, it was totally un-condescending. But, I already brought up
that, 1, I used humor, and, 2, it was wrong to post here. Anything
more of this is just repeating & going on & on & I'm sure none of us
wants that.

Wouldn't the simplest way to test be to post something on topic, but short and
sweet and see if it shows up. Posting something like, "ATWT's Annabelle Fettle
really cracks me up" would get the job done and wouldn't get everyone in a
lather.

And, yes, that's a way to see if your friends are seeing your posts,
to post again, to continue posting, even to add at the end for someone
to e-mail you & let you know for sure you haven't drifted off into the
ether. Yep, that's one way. Although there's nothing wrong with taking
things to test groups. That's easy, too.

I posted a cartoon when I first visited this group and Baba gave me grief in

You won't mind if I'm lazy and just say it here....Happy B day Amy!

That's kewl. Phil and his sister (harumph) have been known to post here
together too! Kim's got 4 kids and she acts like that's some excuse for
not posting here. ;)

You know, we used to say "Don't they know what's causing that?". But it
appears that they do know what's causing it and it also appears that they
like it.

Donna, you can believe me when I say I've read enough of your words to
know exactly how you sound. I know when you're funny, and when you're
not.

If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked
something.

According to you, that's the subjective part. That and that you, I,
Suzie, Dennis, Jane, John, can all have different ideas about what is
funny.

Nothing I said had anything to do with not believing you meant what
you said.
