There is a portrait above the fireplace at Victor and Diane's condo. It is
a woman in a mauve/purple evening gown. I haven't seen the face of the
woman. I was wondering if anyone knows who it is and when the painting was
placed up there above the fireplace?

Thanks for the input!

It's been there since Victor moved in there -- I have no idea who it is,
but someone posted awhile back about it so hopefully they'll see your
post!! I do know that it is no one from the show.

It use to be of Ashley (Brenda Epperson).
Maybe they changed the face when she divorced from Victor.

JeepChick: My memory could be faulty, but I sure don't ever remember
that being a portrait of Ashley in Victor's apartment. I thought I
remembered it exactly as it is since he moved in, because it made me
think it was one of those anonymous type paintings that interior
decorators pick out. You know, now that I think of it, I can't remember
where Ashley & Victor lived when they were married -- was it in that
apartment? I just can't visualize them there together. Anyway, maybe
he did have a portrait of Ashley somewhere, but I sure don't remember
anything else in the spot in question other than what's there now.

I am not 100% certain, but I believe it's a portrait of Mussolini's
mistress. It has been up there for a number of years.

Hello,
If I remember correctly, the woman in the portrait is Ashley, played by
Brenda Epperson (I think I got her name right). I suppose it wouldn't do
to show it, now that Ashley's played by someone else.

We had a big discussion on this about 2 years ago on this newsgroup. It's
not Ashley. Someone identified it...it's a reproduction of some famous
painting. I can't remember exactly what.

Portraits for everyone. Here are some portraits
that should be purchased for these Genoa City
residents:

Victoria Mona Lisa
Mary Williams Whistler's Mother
Paul Williams Inspector Closseau
Christine Williams St. Gabriel
Nick Newman (just a blank canvas)

LOL!! Victor got a 15% business discount off the purchase price, and
Victor Jr did the painting.

The portrait is of Ashley Abbott. (I think then played by Brenda
Epperson). Victor had it made for her while they were together.
Actually, it is pretty ignorant that he not only did not remove it when
he was married to Hope (although she would never have seen it anyway),
but it still remains now that he was married to Diane!! I think that
they just haven't changed the set in so long and do not want to be
bothered with that minor detail, so they just keep the face out of
camera shot.

I'm sure this is incorrect. It's a frequently asked question and the
answer is that it's someone not of the show. I don't remember whom.
But not Ashley. It is not a competition of the wives, nor a cruel
joke on the wife that couldn't see it. It is not sloppy set
decoration. It's just art.

It is a reproduction of a portrait of Mussolini's mistress, whom I believe was
a rather famous actress. When the camera shoots it head on, the woman has dark
hair and looks not at all like Ashley in any of her various incarnations.

I want to go to the mat for this one. While I can't dispute that the
current picture is of Mussolini's bride, there use to be a rather large
portrait of Ashley(B. Epperson) hanging on that wall. And I believe it
was of her in a blue flowing gown. It's been a long time since they've
shown the face.

And just because it was discussed at length on the ng before, that
doesn't mean that the truth was reached in conclusion, does it? *_*.

I will eat words, crow, my hat or whatever cyber thing you want to throw
at me if I'm wrong. But there was a picture of Ashley that is
suspiciously similar to the pic. in question.

APB for Mary Cassata. Or to anyone who has the new book (lucky!): Is
there an entry on who is in the picture on Victor's wall?

Nope you are wrong. This is a frequently asked question. The picture is a
famous portrait of one of Mussolini's mistresses. I don't think there was
ever a picture of Ashley but that so many people have mistakenly identified
the picture as being one of Ashley that people have come to believe there
once was a picture like that of Ashley. The picture is not Ashley, never
was.

Loved the post about Mary having "Whistlers Mother", and Paul having a
portrait of Inspector Clousseau and Nick having a "blank canvas"! Some
posters think it's of Ashley. I was just thinking what an art collection
Victor could have if he would hang pictures of all his wives!! It could
fill a large room! Ha! As passive as Diane is (letting her husband marry
his ex!) she would just dust them dutifully!

I'm with you, JeepChick! I have no idea what the present portrait is,
but there was one of Ashley, as you say. That was when they were
married. I would like to think that even TPTB wouldn't allow victor
to have that portrait still hanging, several wives later...

I said this before, and I know that everyone is all over the board about
this one, but it is definately a portrait of Ashley Abbott. (then
played by Brenda Epperson). Victor had the portrait made especially for
her when they were married. He had it hung above the fireplace. TPTB
never took that painting down after he and Ashley split up. That is why
you rarely see the face on the picture. They keep it out of camera shot
on purpose. They may darken the lighting on it so that if the face is
seen by the camera, it does not appear to be Ashley, but it is the
portrait of Ashley. By the way, does anyone remember how long it took
for Paul to get rid of the portrait of Cassandra? It was a long time
after she had died, and TPTB did the same thing, they kept the picture
out of clear camera shot.
