It was the last day an original episode of our beloved soap was aired on
ABC.

In honor of this upcoming anniversary, I'm issuing a call for all the
"old" regulars here on RATSA to post their favorite memories of All My
Children.

Ah, the memories...Oddly enough, my foremost memories are the sentimental
ones. Brooke facing Laura's death, remembering Kate, Mona, and Myrtle when
they died, Mary's death (yes, I was a fan of Jeff and Mary). I loved
anything with Stuart, and the really old days with Paul and Anne, Phoebe
fighting with Mona, Joe and Ruth's enduring marriage. And while I can't
think of any one particular story arc I adored with Erica, I still loved
knowing she was campily carrying on the tradition of an original cast
member. Oh gosh, there are so many good memories!!

Well thank goodness a couple of us are still around.

My favorites were Cliff & Nina's first circus of wedding; Erica &
Dimitri's budding romance; when Jesse came back from the dead and Angie
first saw him; when Bianca came out and had her first romance with Lena;
Adam & Liza's first marriage of deception and trickery; when Zach &
Kendall got together after she got pregnant with Spike; the whole
Miranda/Bess baby switch saga; and, the time Ryan rode his bike off a
cliff and everybody assumed he was dead.

Obviously I don't remember much of the early days; pre-VCRs I didn't
watch regularly except during the summer. Sigh, I still can't believe
it's gone...

Favorite memories:

Nina and Cliff's first wedding; Nina and Monique's friendship and when Nina learned Monique's true identity; Ann's madness when she lost her baby (that's going Waaaaay back!); Billy Clyde and anyone else in a scene; Donna singing at the Chateau; guest appearances by Oprah Winfrey, Carol Burnett, Dick Cavett, Rosie O'Donnell, Ann Meara (okay, not a guest appearance really, but sort of), Liz Taylor, Stevie Wonder...

Jessie and Jennie sitting on the fire escape in NYC pondering life; Greg and Jenny's romance, "Tad the Cad" working for his mom at the salon...

Trevor and Janet-from-Another-Planet....

So many memories!

My favorite memories were about the actors--the villains were the most
interesting to me--any storyline with Palmer, Opal, Adam etc. It could
be frustrating , always rooting for the bad guys, because good
characters would usually win out. I adored Michael Sabatino as Dr.
Kinder, when he was involved with Erica. (I even chose the name for my
email addy:) I know most of the fans looked forward to the huge
extravagant weddings--I always hoped something terrible would happen,
like the bride tripping over her expensive, billowing white( of course)
gown, but no such luck. ( I know-- I'm a bitchiy old woman).

I began watching it in 1971, and stayed with it thru several boring
periods, but once Dr. David came on board, I stayed just for him, even
though each time he left ,I vowed to stop watching. Near the end he had
become a punching bag for all the boring heroes on the series--I still
think Ryan wins that title.. So I stayed to the bitter end because of
David and I guess he'll always be my favorite memory of AMC.

Mine too, Christine, but I haven't watched AMC as long as most of the old RATSA group.

I do have some fond memories of Brooke/Edmund/Dimitri/Hayley/Trevor from the time when I first started watching though.

Dr. David is the only reason I could make it through the "Ryan Lavery" years of the show as well.
