Pretty hilarious Sam's reaction to the box he opened in Troy's new loft. He
peers inside and gasps in horror, "Troy MacIver, what are you into???" When
we returned to the scene, I really expected we'd learn the box contained
shrunken heads or kinky S&M sex toys. Instead, what do we find?
<GASP!!!>
AFRICAN ART!!!! NOOOOOO!!!
Then he mentions this finding to Bo in the police station yesterday when Bo
asks Sam if he came across anything in Troy's apartment to cause concern.
Well, Sam, I guess you'd think I'm a friggin' weirdo, too, and ought to be
locked up, because I have four African art pieces at home myself. And I'd
have more if I got into serious collecting. Considering you have an ex wife
who is an art dealer, I would think you'd have heard by now African art is
quite popular and is considered even sophisticated in some corners of
society.
What kind of a dope is Sam? Seems like one of these cases where, when a
person is looking for a reason to hate someone or proof that this hated
person is evil, anything the object of hatred does, says or owns will serve
as proof of his/her inherent badness.
And this off the subject, but speaking of that scene w/ Bo yesterday in the
police station, I want to know something: Bo told Lanie at the apartment
that he was off for the evening unles an emergency comes up. Five mins later
he's called in by Sykes or Antonio for what? Because Sam and Troy are down
at headquarters, having exchanged blows. Both are ok and neither require
medical attention. The only question is whether or not Troy will press
charges against Sam...a decision which is resolved w/ Troy dropping the
charges by the time Bo arrives.
Now if that's an example of the kind of emergency requiring Bo's attention
after he's off duty, I don't see how Bo can be allowed to have time off, go
home for dinner or to sack out or anything else. He may as well set up shop
24/7 in his office because skirmishes like that will probably occur at any
time. What a waste of the police commissioner's time to come in for
something so petty, Antonio, a uniform, could handle.
But of course the point was to get him out of the apartment so we could see
the scene w/ Lanie going psycho, having pretended to be her own aunt and
sending herself a gift she bought herself. Jeez! Couldn't they have come up
w/ something better....more believable?

ROFL! I know -- what was that all about? Pretty non-PC, isn't it,
almost like implying that African tribal religious/cultural artifacts
= evil, spooky nefarious doings? I totally cracked up, then got a
little offended.

He did? I didn't see Monday's show. He actually said "Troy has some
African Art"? Did Bo scoff, or look concerned? That's too silly for
words.

The strange thing is I could have sworn Sam had some African-looking
pieces in his own house.
Diane H.
He does! Back between the fireplace wall (where the big TV was for the
WebTV porn scenes) and the door to the bedrooms or kitchen area or
whatever's back there. At least one face-mask like piece back there.
I mean, you could say that Lindsey gave the stuff to him, but he *kept* it!

I know! Totally dumb and ridiculous.

Idn't it, though? Bo just eyed Sam like he's thinking Sam really needs to
get out more.

I thought I'd noticed some, too. But I guess if it's Sam's, he figures
that's ok.
Natasha
Uhh, not to mention that our guy Troy has just spent a nice long stint in
Africa himself! He was bound to pick up a couple of nice tidbits from the
local neighborhood artisans! How dumb to even question that.
--S.
I agree with both of you! I thought it was completely stupid -- and quite
offensive -- that Sam would find Troy's African art indicative of some kind
of nefarious doings. Troy's been a doctor in Africa for the past few years,
for God's sake -- why *wouldn't* he have developed an interest in African
art?
I also have a few pieces of African beadwork at home. Gasp!!!! I guess that
means I'm up to something very, very bad!!!
