This NuCristian--is two days a record for a new so-called actor going
without a shirt? Well, it was HOT, he said, but gee, those were not the
nipples of a man suffering from the heat. I wonder if TIIC could be MORE
obvious. Criminy. Well, it is summer. Time to drag out the tender young
hunks and the
will-she/won't-she virgins. To say I am uninterested in Jessica/Cristian
is really an understatment of monumental proportions.

Jury is still out on the acting...he manages okay so far. At least I've
seen nothing outrageously 'off'.

Boy, i'm really negative today...must be my disappointment with the Todd
thing. And the Jerry thing on GH. Perhaps it's me. I just love my
fictional men to be twisted (but not criminal) and it's a tough call for
writers to keep them on that fine line it seems.

I was surprised to see that they had him put pants on when Jess showed
up! :) They seem sort of bland, but it's only been a few days...

Agreed. He almost seems kind of sweet, and he's more mellow than the
old Cris, who tended to be the angry young man all the time.

-shrug- I'll say I tentatively like him.

Hee hee hee ... my sister called me up last night before I had a
chance to watch my tape. I casually asked her if there was anything
interesting worth watching on OLTL. She replied, "Nah. Same ol',
same ol'. No NuKevin, no NuJoey, a little bit of NuDrew. Oh, and
NuCristian finally put a shirt on in the second half of the episode
today."

I don't know, I thought it was really funny and I was ROTFLMAO.

They don't seem to have much chemistry together, from what I've seen so
far. I am in particular rolling my eyes in annoyance at Jessica's
*extreme* prudishness when it comes to Cristian's nude. (the painting!).
Has she never been to an art gallery and seen all the fantastic nudes done
by famous artists? Riiiiight.

If she doesn't understand his art, which is his everything, then what in
the world will be the glue to keep them in love? And why does he love
her?

Agreed.
But I hate having to deal with yet ANOTHER new face and personality,
having to watch to see if he's got any ability or not, and probably having
to watch yet another character be destroyed before my eyes.

sure, i can understand getting nervous and anxious at the idea of a nude
model alone in a studio with the painter. i didn't become annoyed with
jessica's reaction until after cristian (am i spelling his name right?)
explained that the model was in class, and that the human body was a study
in shapes and values, when she still got these "gawd, that's WEIRD" looks
on her face, like she didn't get it at all.

the portrait wasn't sexualized in the least, either. i thought the
painting was touching and sensitive.

i was quite pleased with jessica's actions today, when she defended the
painting when she saw cristian throwing it in disgust. i suppose if i
have to i can allow her some angstyness over the nude if she gets over it
so quickly :-)

ah well. i admit that i was nervous the first time i ever drew from a
live model. it's pretty amazing, really, how quickly everyone in class
got over it, even prudish me. and as an artist i agree with what i
thought cristian was saying today, that there is nothing like drawing the
human form.

i know, i just wanted to complain about k___n without mentioning his name

that with this new actor it's not just superficial.

Well, I think it's one thing to see works by people who you don't know
painting nudes of people they may have been intimate with, and another
to imagine your own boyfriend painting some girl naked alone in a studio
when you're already insecure about showing him your *own* body. I was

He loves her because there's some sort of amazing innocence and hope

inside of her, that he really cherishes. She just doesn't get it,

though... I think that may drive them apart, allowing Will Rappaport to

come in. Too bad that Darcy guy wasn't around for longer than
homecoming or the prom... (or whatever dance that was)

I *love* that intro. I get so many cool furniture comments. -grin-

Ah. I think she was still trying to figure it all out. She's go so
much going on right now that she doesn't have her head on straight. She
was downright *bitchy* to Viki in the diner yesterday. I mean, Viki can
be overwhelmingly prudish about sex at the wrong time, but Jessica seems
to have more hangups that aren't just manufactured by her mom...

Hearing anybody talk about his choices as an artist would be kinda weird
for Jessica if it involved naked people. :) I think she *was* thinking
it was weird because she's never thought of it that way, and is *trying*
to get it. Cris has had sex before her, I'm sure, and has drawn and
seen countless women's bodies in print and canvas. Jessica has probably
never seen a guy naked in good light, and she's probably the type to not
fully change in front of other women, either.

>the portrait wasn't sexualized in the least, either. i thought the
>painting was touching and sensitive.

Oh, whomever they got to actually do it wasn't bad. It *did* look a lot
more unfinished, even for an impressionistic style, than Cris' other
work did. He's probably trying to branch out into other styles and
techniques, too, to get a broader technical base to his art...

Yes. And, SPEC: I think after seeing Titanic two or three times, she's
got it into her mind that the only way he'll have passion about a nude
is if it's her, and she'll pose for him (amd maybe get over some of
those hang-ups).

Tangent-- how often to characters ever get the chance to fool around
without actually having sex??? I mean, it shouldn't be kissing and then
full-out intercourse. There's lots of different kissing and caressing
and touching and whatnot that could be done to take the relationship to
a higher level without actually going all the way. Massage, for one.
:)

Really? cool. I'd love to try it. I guess you just start seeing all
of the details and the little parts, instead of the whole. I drew my
face once, and didn't look it as my face, just as an eye here, a nostril
there, a wisp of hair around the curve of the ear, a hold for an
earring, etc.

Yeah. :) And he said something to the same effect to Carlotta, too.
That he does care for her, but he thinks she's really innocent and
young, and while he really admires that, he doesn't want to "spoil" her
or ruin it or anything. This Cris seems a bit mroe sincere about
wanting to be with her but not having it just be frustrated that he
can't have sex with her, but concerned over her well-being too. More
mature. I *like* this Cris. Heck, he's more mature, he actually
*smiles* more often! I can see him getting angry like oldCris, but he's
not bad at all.

I wasn't sure that I was going to like NuCristian (the previous one
was so cute, IMHO) but in his scenes with Carlotta, I noticed that he
really looks like he could be her son. At least, from that
perspective, it may be a good recast. I'm reserving judgement on his
acting until we see more of him.

Well, I missed Monday and Tuesday because I was traveling by car, so I
missed most of the shirtlessness, unfortunately. But I will go on record
as rarely being against gratuitous shirtlessness. <g> One of the reasons
I watch soaps is for fantasy fodder. Meaningful and important
storylines, dramatic and powerful storylines, thoroughly researched
storylines that help to educate, etc., can be very good (or not), and I
would hate to watch soaps that never did good drama. But there's nothing
wrong in my book with the hot and steamy side of soap storytelling. Give
me passion, give me well-toned bodies, give me fantasy-fodder in healthy
doses as well.

I read through this thread before writing my own message, and I'm
surprised nobody mentioned that he looks a lot more like Kamar de los
Reyes' Antonio than the previous Cristian did. And with the tortured
artist style TPTB are obviously going for, he's got a lot of Antonio's
dark broodiness, too.

I just saw NuCris and I totally agree... he looks like KdlR's little

he's good as I'm looking forward to the young lovers giving me some relief

NuCris is fairer than Antonio and Carlotta, but just as there are blond
Sicilians, not all Hispanics are dark complected. I think he is a good choice
all around, so far. Depending on what this weird regime of writers and
producers have in store for him, how the character looks may well be the least
of our problems with him in the future(g).
