Watching those wee hour repeats of AMC, I'm once again dazzled by by the
touching performance of Jeffrey Carlson as Zoe/Zarf.
In fact, I checked on
imdb.com and
imbd.com to see what he's been doing
since then -- in film/television and on Broadway, and didn't turn up
much.
But, in today's New York Times, there's a review of Frank Strausserąs
łPsycho Therapy,˛ a new play he's in at the Cherry Lane Theater, which
also stars Laurence Law (AMC's Greg).
The critic (Daniel M. Gold) doesn't seem to care much for the play, in
which Carlson and Lau vie for the affections of the same woman, but he
does praise the performers.
He writes, "And yet, the actors imbue their roles with wit and spirit,
lifting the material every so often to something better" and noting that
"Mr. Carlson is quite comfortable as a lizard king who is all about the
heat," he wrote, and commenting that "Mr. Lauąs jittery Philip seems
sincerely frustrated by Lilyąs wandering eye."
