Anyone know the GH start date for Blair, Todd, Starr, etc.? I may tune
in.

Has there ever been any GH posts in this forum? I thought with AMC and
OLTL canceled, there would be more/some GH posts. Is it that bad?

I haven't watched (regularly) since shortly after the Luke/Laura hayday.
I tried to get into it just before the AMC/OLTL cancellations, but
couldn't really get interested. Lot of Sonny/mob stuff. I hate mob
stuff.

I don't recall when they're supposed to invade GH. I can't stand any of
those people and resent them taking up storyline time when GH could do
so much better by writing decent stuff for the cast they have. JMO

I've been frequenting this newsgroup for years, and back when all
three series were in production, before the cancellations were
announced, I'd have to say AMC-related posts were more than half of
the posts here, followed by OLTL-related posts. GH-related entries
were maybe 10-15 percent of the posts (and that's probably being
generous).

It's funny that the only ABC soap left is the one folks here cared
about the least.

unfortunately the mob still rules. fortunately other than Sonny most of the
mob is interesting. Johnny is handsome but tortured and I love Jason. It is
an easy show to get into if you ignore Sonny. On the other hand I have tried
so hard to like Young and Restless. There is a nasty character who everyone
seems to love and admire even when he does awful things. Worse he speaks in
a sing song and uses very trite phrases. I wish he and Sonny could have
their own show. Victor could sing song Sonny and Sonny could shoot him.

When I first started checking in to RATSA in early 1997, it would
alternate back and forth between AMC and GH which would have the
lion's share of posts; there were a substantial number of OLTL posts
as well, but not quite as many as for AMC and GH; and then whatever
fourth soap ABC was running (The City, Port Charles) got way less. At
some point a good while ago, however, people just stopped posting
about GH; I'm not sure why. Of course, the number of postings for all
the soaps fell off at some point, and the traffic in RATSA--for ALL
soaps--decreased markedly. Some of that was tied, I'm sure, to the
ratings freefall--people who weren't watching generally weren't going
to bother posting.

I know there's alt.tv.general-hospital; maybe all the former RATSA
denizens who were GH fans went there. Or maybe people just decided
what was happening on GH wasn't worth talking about.

Sort of in the same way that it's funny that ABC cancelled the soap
with the highest ratings and kept one of the ones that was struggling.
Funny-weird rather than funny-ha-ha.

Some time this week, on Thursday OLTL's excutive producer's name
started appearing on GH episodes and there were a few noticable
changes, OLTL's writer's name will soon show up when his work starts
to air, it will take them some time to fix all the show's problems but
I have a lot of confidence in them, hopefully The Revolution will be
canceled and GH will at least get another year on the air. If you're
looking for more GH talk than this group offers try the show's IMDB
page: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056758/board/threads/

I think GH fans post somewhere else. I'm from ratsc, but whenever I've
come over here, I've never seen many GH posts. Maybe they have their
own newsgroup or something.

I don't expect GH fans will be very happy about OLTL characters coming
on their show, though, especially since it looks like their days are
numbered.

Yes, nothing about this mess has been funny ha-ha. Although I did
think "this is so sad it's almost funny" last night when, while
watching the wee small hours of the morning AMC repeat on SoapNet,
they ran a commercial proclaiming how exciting a 2012 it's going to be
with their....three soaps.

Actually, with AMC and OLTL gone, it sort of makes Bold and the
Beautiful's lack of a SoapNet slot even more obvious.

Although there isn't a lot there, either anymore. I've been getting
my soap fix lurking on TWOP soap forums:

I also wonder why they don't do a DOOL marathon like they do for YR, unless Corday won't allow it or wants too
much money for one extra showing per episode.

I know, unfortunately. (I still think there is potential for that
channel, but in many ways it was never fully realized.) But even
before they announced SoapNet was ending, the lack of B&B stood out
like a sore thumb. Even moreso now that the channel's left with just
three soaps to air.

For reasons I don't quite get, DOOL has always gotten weird treatment
from SoapNet. Back when they were showing their "original
series" (i.e., Frons' duds), the shows would often air in DOOL's 11
p.m. timeslot. Sure, they'd only air once or twice a week, but it just
seemed strange DOOL would always be the one to get the bump. Of
course, these days that's not a problem (not only does SoapNet have no
more original series, but with only three soaps to the channel's name,
DOOL has a much better slot than it did a year ago at this time), but
still, I wonder why DOOL's treatment has been kinda shabby.

Speaking of original series, I loved Being Erica. I wonder if they made
another season, and if that's something we're simply not going to see in
the swansong weeks of SoapNet. TOo bad they didn't try to go out with a
bang and maybe have a "viewers' choice" timeslot or timeslots, where fans
got to vote for particular TRUE CLASSIC episodes (before 2000).
