MST3K, an addiction?

I was just thinking about how addictive substances (Drugs, nicotine,
alcohol, ect.) get you hooked so you can't stop and eventually ruin your
life or at least parts. Then I had the thought, MST3K (And RATMM, for that
matter) are among these evil substances. I'm addicted, and I can't stop. I
lose precious study time watching them. I can't go to any movie with
friends, because I MSTie them, no matter how good they are. Maybe I should
stop cold turkey. No, it wouldn't work. Cold turkey is too powerful to be
defeated by mere mortals. I probably couldn't stop watching MST3K either.

But, My life has never been so fun. Thank you RATMMers and MST3K folks for
making my life a little more surreal.

Even if The Cold Turkey (volume accounted for or not) was weak enough to
bow down before the power of your will alone, i think having to live in

would probably remove any of said will-power in a matter of hours.

No, more like a Picaso Surrealist painting. Now, get you eye out of your
ear, and move your mouth to the front of your head.

All: Hi, Brewing!

Seriously, I think *anything* can be an addiction (certainly MST3K is
for me), but that doesn't make it *bad*. I control my addictions and
*don't* let them ruin my life. For example, I wait until my
lunch-break to shoot up! :)

It's not just an addiction... it's the PERFECT addiction. Let me explain:

You'll be happy to know that there are "King of the Hill" clinics to help
you wean yourself from that dependency. Don't be surprised if you have
the occasional moment of weakness, tho. I have.

I propose the MST3K 12 Step Program to help you find yourself again after
you've lost yourself to MST. It worked for me. Please do the following
in order.

1) Confess to a higher power. Then start drinking heavily.
2) Deny the higher power. Have another drink.
3) Swear off the booze. Take a vow of celebacy.
4) Break your vow of celebacy and start doing community service.
5) While doing community service, vandalize some very conspicuous
piece of public property.
6) Hide from the authorities in a musty abandoned building,
chanting "nom myoho renga cyo" until you're hungry.
7) Start binge eating at the nearest fast food joint. Don't
stop eating until you're bazooka barfing.
8) Lock yourself in your home and write Ferlingetti-style
beat poetry while listening to Ravi Shankar albums.
9) Count from 1 to 5,438,597 by ones. Don't sleep until you're
finished.
10) Count backwards from 5,438,597 to 1. Again, don't sleep until
you're done.
11) Take a nap. The longer the better.
12) Take a shower. The longer the better.

*ahhhhh*

Doesn't that feel better? It changed MY life.
