Yep - Morecambe & Wise were once asked who they thought their successors
would be and Eric Morecambe said, "Cannon & Ball, providing they get good
writers".

I don't know why they faded from the scene, but whenever they appear on TV
they're always funny.

Imho they were unable to break out of the working class model. M&W could
dance, do music routines, play with words, work with high class guests.
C&B just didn't have that adaptability.........

They did a film - a remake of Will Hay's Ask A Policeman with, IIRC, the
same director, Val Guest.
It's supposed to be terrible - did you see it? :-)
