Has anyone out their done BUG? There is a scene where the walls need
to be covered in tin foil durring a scene break. The director wants
this to happen magically/quickly durring the break.

The other effect he wants- at the end of the play the leads dowse
themselves in gas and set themselves on fire as a strobe blinds the
audience. Then he wants an ashen mound on stage where they stood. I
can't achevie this effect using flys or traps since we don't have any.

Thanks in advance!

Have foil on flats under paper. Paint paper as needed. Tear paper off when
needed.

Fade to black, push set piece onto stage, bring up narrow spot on piece.

He should also build an effective escape into the set so the
actor can disappear quickly; I did this years ago for DRACULA;
the wall looked solid. In fact, the back wall wasn't a solid run
but two overlapping walls spaced two feet apart in paralell. We
disguised the edge of the overlap with a column, which held up a
dimensional header. Sightlines are critical to the effect.
