Summary:
Kor, an elderly Klingon, is telling a story in Quark's. Worf is off to
the side. He admires Kor, but since Worf is considered an outsider, he
does not speak to Kor. Dax walks over, and introduces Kor to Worf, and to
Worf's amazement, Kor respects and admires Worf. They talk, and Kor
begins to tell Worf why he has come to DS9. He says that he knows where
the sword of Kahless is, and is going to find it. Both Klingons know that
the sword would reunite the empire, and feel it is their destiny to bring
it back. Kor invites Worf to join him in his search for the sword.
Sisko grants Dax, Worf, and Kor a Runabout. He also feels that the
sword could reunite the empire, and if the Federation brought the empire
the sword, the arguments between the Federation and the Klingons would
cease.
The trio arrive at a planet in the Gamma Quadrant where a Vulcan survey
team recovered the sword. They beam down to the caves, and discover that
the place has been ransacked. However, they find a holographic force
field in place. Dax concludes that the field is key to only let a
specific lifeform enter. Both Worf an Kor agree that the lifeform is the
Hurk, a race which concurred and attacked the Klingon Homeworld long ago.
They took the sword, and the empire has been searching for it ever since.

They manage to fool the field into thinking that they are Hurk, and are
able to pass the field. When the enter the room, they discover the
sword. Dax confirms that it is Kahless' sword, and That it is authentic.
Worf allows Kor to hold the sword, and the trio moves out of the caves.
They are stopped however by a group of Klingon warriors led by Toral, son
of Duras. Toral demands the sword, but Kor has other ideas. He attacks
Toral, and the others join in, fighting off the Klingons.
The trio escape, but when they attempt to beam to the Runabout, they
discover that a Klingon jamming signal is blocking their transmission. To
get passed the signal, they try to move toward the surface. Kor and Worf
begin to argue. They fight over who should have the sword. Kor insults
Worf by calling him a traitor, and Worf returns by saying Kor is to old,
and is drunk. When the three are forced to move on a narrow ledge, Kor
slips, but Worf grabs him. Worf tells Kor to let go, because there is a
ledge below him. Kor refuses, and says he would rather die then give the
sword to Worf. Dax pulls Worf, who in turn pulls Kor, and the three are
safe again. Dax notices that tried to kill Kor, and she says that the
ledge would never have supported Kor, and that he would have died.
Dax stops to rest, and Kor and Worf continue to argue. Both men are
starting to be seduced by the power of the sword. Dax drifts off to
sleep, with the sword, but both Worf and Kor refuse to sleep. Dax is
awakened by Kor and Worf fighting, by before she can stop them, Toral and
the other Klingons attack. The trio fight them off, but when all the
Klingons are knocked out, Worf and Kor continue to fight. Dax has had
enough, and stuns both of them. She manages to get another Klingon to
stop the damping field, and the trio return to the Runabout. Worf and Kor
realize that the only way to stop their fighting, is to beam the sword
onto space. Worf feels that the empire is not ready for the sword yet,
and when it is destined to find the sword, it will. The two beam the
sword into space, and the Runabout warps away.
