Doug Faunt, sometime poster at rec.arts.sf.fandom, was rescued by the
Coast Guard from the Bounty, which went down in the storm off of, I
think, the Carolina coast. Sadly, last I heard there were still two
missing out of the 19 who were on it at the time.

Gary Farber actually tracked down video footage of the Coast Guard
