Indeed it does; a friend of mine adores that stuff, and due to arcane
import rules and state liquor laws he used to have me buy it for him
-- it couldn't be shipped directly to his home in North Carolina.

Now I forget what it's called.

That would be the Canadian name. The Finnish version is Lakkalikööri.
They berry is native to Canada as well as to northern Europe.

Apparently it's the French Canadian name. In English, it's usually
called 'bakeapple'.

None of those is the name of the liqueur I was trying to remember.

The bottle in our liquor cabinet says simply "Lapponia" and
"Lakka". It was purchased at an Alki in Finland.

Ah. Should've caught the cognate, but didn't.

There's Lapponia Cloudberry Liqueur (called just 'Lakka' in Finnish),
which apparently is exported to North America. Chymos also makes
'Lakka'.

The liqueur made from the stuff was imported from Europe and called
Lakka or Lapponia Lakka, as far as I can recall. Of course, there may
have been another brand with another name exported to the US.
