Subject: Amy Thomson's _Virtual Girl_

Having just read _Virtual Girl_ for a class assignment, I'm curious
as to whether or not the author has a background in SF... any ideas?
Any info would be appreciated.

First of all, what class was _Virtual Girl_ assigned reading?  My
girlfriend and I will be having dinner with her tomorrow, and Amy would be
tickled to know that!  (I hope you liked the book...)  I hope her new
novel is also assigned when it comes out.
However, to answer your question, Amy does have a background in
SF.  She was a graduate of either Clarion or Clarion West (I think Clarion
West, but am not sure) some time ago, and was one of the SF reviewers for
Locus for awhile.  Anything else?
