Does anyone know when the release date for the last book in the
almighty death gate series is?? And is it just me or is the last line of
Fire Sea without a doubt the coolest ending line of any book you've ever read.

Okay, one more thing:
What is Zifnab?, here's my guess:

1) In ITL Sang Drax told Xar he "was" a Sartan but he became one of
"them";
2) and we know that Zifnab was the first to escape the Labryinth and
was placed there by his fellow Sartan.

Now since he was a Sartan, he can't possibly be a god, So I would
bet he's something like a "Saint" or "Angel" basically a servant of the
actual god. There are a lot more clues, but at the time I can't remeber
more, bumer.

zifnab is likely fizban from the dragonlance books. basically an allpowerful
force for good. he's either a servant of the creator or the creator.

The Library of Congress lists 'The Seventh Gate' as a September
release. However, based on past experience, the actual release
dates are about a month or so earlier than what they post.

Aaarggh. NO NO he's not Fizban. He's just some poor insane Sartan
who was sent mad by being on earth during the breaking. Just because
his deranged mind takes on the role from one of many he adopts from 20th
Century writing that happens to belong to the same authors doesn't make
him that character. Death Gate and Dragonlance are completely unrelated
except that Dragonlance was written as a work of fiction in the history
of Death Gate.

close. Personally i think that he's like a magician's familiar to
that big Green dragon. The dragon is an opposite of the dragonsnakes
IMHO and is probably somethin like you're basic angel or whatever

we could go back and forth on this, but basically i get the feeling
Weiss & Hickmann really liked the character (as an expression of ultimate
omniscient good).

he acts alot like fizban did (and i assume you noticed the letters in the
name are rearranged). it's kind of like a joke, one that those who've read
the Dragonlance books will get.

agreed. BUT. take a look at his conversation with Xar on Pryan in
book 6. THAT is the real 'Zifnab'. He has taken on the character of,
amongst others James Bond and Fizban. The personality he has most often
is that of Fizban BUT it is not the same person. He is a schizophrenic
who thinks that he's Fizban. This does not make him Fizban. He's just
an ordinary (as ordinary as any Sartan can be) mortal who's been hooked
up with a personification (dragonification? B-) of good.
All IMAO of course

Everyone keeps saying that he has taken on the identity of Fizban, but how
was he suppose to know what Fizban was like in the first place? You cannot say
that he happens to just act like Fizban either because he mentions the actual
characters out of those books as well. He is also not imortal so could not
have read the Dragonlance books in the 20th century.

I kind of agree with a previous posting above suggesting that Fizban might
be a joke on the part of W&H.

So you're saying that Zifnab is fizban because he talks with knowledge
about the characters in Drgonlance. So 007 was actually an immortal god
from a fantasy universe. That's what we'd arrive at if we carried your
premisses to their full conclusion: If Zifnab acts as a character from
a book who knows the other characters then he is that character.
therefore Zifnab was: Fizban, 007, somebody from The lord of the Rings
and a Sartan during the breaking amongst other things. Therefore 007
was an immortal god from a fantasy universe and present on middle Earth.
Are you sure Zifnab's not immortal?

Hey, we've got books from some centuries BC. just because Dragonlance
was written in the 20thC doesn't mean it can't be read in the 40thC or
whenever.

Yes, perhaps a bit of a joke but the guy cannot BE Fizban because
Fizban was Paladine, one of a pantheon of gods. all the evidence we
have points towards a single Higher Power for good in the Death Gate
universe with perhaps another not quite so High one for evil being
represented by the Dragon snakes. The Good power is represented as best
I can see by Zifnab's dragon, or the dragon that controls Zifnab, but
this is at best an avatar as opposed to the real thing and most likely
just a mortal (though VERY long-lived) servant
