Alright, so here it is...

The signing in Bailey's Crossroads went well, about 96 attendees (a LOT
less than last time)... and RJ looked good. Definitely lost weight. He
started out talking a little bit about his writing, mentioned that he
was considering 2 or 3 "outrigger" novels... written in WoTverse, but
apart from the main thrust of the story (and not including the
prequels). In regards to Asmodean, if it seems logical to have a
character come forward in the 12th book and claim the murder, he'll
write that. If not we have to wait until the release of the PAPERBACK
of book 12 to find out. RJ then proceeded to sign some books (he was
stopped right after my friend) and was dragged back to do a Q&A before
signing the rest. I actually met a guy named Shawn who was a much into
the books as I was and we passed information back and forth, so some of
this information is thanks to him, too.

Stedding: Neither the OP NOR the TP will work in a stedding. Did not
get a chance to ask about whether Far Madding = Stedding.

Someone asked about using the Oath Rod or the Three Arches for Accepted
Testing in T'A'R and RJ said that they would not work the same way.

When the Blight receded in EotW, the plants actually healed (new plants
didn't immediately appear from elsewhere).... minor detail, but good to
know.

Siuan and Leane being stilled again and healed by a male to full
strength... "RAFO, because I might decide to use that as a plot device!"
(That got a few chuckles).

The Book of Translation (Ogier thing) was RAFO'd when asked if it was a
Ter'angreal or a dictionary/map.

Verin is NOT, nor has she ever been, a librarian of the 13th Depository.
I got a DIRECT ANSWER, not a RAFO. My question was "Was Verin a
librarian of the 13th Depository?" (To include both past and present).
The response was "No." ...which I followed up with "So she's just a bit
weird and knows a lot?" and that response was "Pretty much."

And (drumroll)..... The question regarding the Gauntleted Fist clutching
the three Lightning Bolts... at first he thought I was talking about the
chapter icon, which he said he has no control over, but referenced
something about Trollocs. When I explained that I meant the sigil we'd
seen in Tear and on Sammael's Throne and Mazrim Taim's (Mazh-rim
Ta-eem)'s throne.... his response was "Oh! That...I... I'm going to have
to tell you to read and find out." Bah!

So who has the next signing?

Curses. Foiled again!

Thanks anyway for asking my question.

As good as a confirmation in my book. He had to *think* in order to
RAFO it.

Dreadlord Taim. I'd bet my hat on it. Damning quotes and sneers and
indirect assassination attempts are all very well; color schemes and
minions are suggestive but not definitive. But absolutely no one in the
world could possibly have replicated an Age of Legends sigil without
seeing it. Taim is a Dreadlord.

Loony Theory: There were Forsaken other than the thirteen that were
sealed, right? What if the DO decided to reincarnate one of them?

Whether or not Dreadlord Taim, it makes for an interesting banter. And
perhaps someone at a later signing will get more from him. I'm sure I
didn't word the question obscurely enough. And the Verin question was
as much mine as anyone else's.... goes back to the whole "Verin is
Purple Ajah" theory that's been bantered around for EVER. As to your
looney theory, yes there were other Channelers who worked for the DO,
the 13 were just the most powerful... however, I don't think that Joe
Random Forsaken from the AoL still has his soul hanging around
somewhere... it's probably been recycled in the 3000 odd years since the
sealing of the Bore.

Not so sure, once the dark one has captured a soul, especially one that
he just killed, how long do you suppose he could keep it before he had
to place it in to a body? Don't you think that it would explain a lot
if Taim was a resurrected Forsaken from the war of power. Again this is
just speculation and I am probably wrong, It could be a punishment that
the dark one created for a former forsaken that maybe did not follow
orders the way he wanted to. He could have been brought back as just a
dark friend that could channel, sort of a probation period and then
once he proves him self, gets promoted to forsaken. another loony
theory.

For crying out loud. I hope he was joking. If he actually pulls that on
us, he has forever sealed his fate as a hack.

From the Collected Witterings of Mark Ferguson, volume 23:

Why? If the identity of Asmo's killer is not significant, only the fact
that he was killed at a crucial point in Rand's being taught, then our not
being told in the book is not an issue.

But if that's the case, then it would not be an issue to have told us
from the very beginning. Withholding information that the readers have
collectively begged for, for years, pointlessly, would be the height of
idiocy on his part.

RJ's response to that is that he "likes watching us squirm." He's said
it multiple times. He knows it's petty, but he enjoys it.

I don't mind him not telling us in the final book. What is tacky is
trying to milk a few more dollars out of his fans by putting it in the
paperback version.

At the Philadelphia Q&A/signing, he didn't make it sound like it would
be released
*in* the paperback edition. Or at least, that's not how I took it. That
he would at
that point leak it to the major newsgroups, etceteras.

He didn't say he would put it in the paperback version. He said that he
would announce it when the paperback version was released.

Even if he did put it in the back of paperback version for some unknown
reason, it's not like it would be typed into Usenet within hours of the first
paperback hitting the shelves.
