this is where the two greatest inventions in communications come
together, the printed book and the internet.  As I read the books on
my kindle I kept referring to several excellent web pages that keep
track of the players and plots, and once in awhile I looked up
something in a paper version (biggest drawback to original kindle is
its hard to flip back and forth to maps and appendices).
